Guys I either need to replace my t 8 ballasts in the garage or put in some LED replacements. For what ever reason, the t 8's dont last but a couple seasons and they just give up the ghost and they aint cheap. So I figure I will try the LED's so does anyone have any experience with them?

Your best bet is to replace the entire fixture with an LED fixture. Some LED tubes work on 120 volts and you can remove the ballast entirely. They may require you to replace the tombstones at one or both ends, though. Some LED replacement tubes pop in to replace a standard tube and do require a functioning ballast. You may find the complete new fixture is cheaper than just buying a ballast.

I've changed all my old fluorescent light fixtures over to LEDs. Not hard to bypass the ballast. All the tombstones in my old light fixtures were non shunted and were what I needed for my bulbs.

That's what I did. The ones that keep the ballasts only work with certain ballasts. I ordered online since the stores only had the ballast type.

Hokie your link won't come up for me. I replaced mine with these along with 2 of these for down the back of the garage where I point them where they're needed. Only been a few months but so far so good. Also probably a far bit cheaper for you folks to the south. Good luck skeets, lot's of options out there.

I lied. I bought 5000K bulbs for the garage at HD. I bought 4000K bulbs for the kitchen online - 4 48" and 1 24". The 24" one may have been unavailable locally.

I bought Hyperikon brand for my garage, got them from Amazon and have had zero issues out of them. I went with the frosted lens and dual ended power syle.

I've used 2 boxes of the light 85Hokie listed in my shop. Work excellent and good bright light. I paid about $10 more then the current price.

i have some chinese Amazon LED 4' and 8' lights. I can't recall the brand.
remove the ballast and use the tombstone, took all of a few minutes to rewire.
The one problem with these lights is they are electrically 'noisy'. forget listening to the am/fm radio in the shop when they are turned on. There may be a way to fix that with a ferrule ring or a capacitor?

Hell I cant listen to a radio in the garage anyway, the steel enclosed pole barn acts like a Faraday Cage and kills all the signals. and I dont even have it grounded,,lol
But I do think I am going to order a 8 pack off amazon that will do 2 banks and we shall see what it looks like,, has to be better than the dark it is now,,, right? :)

skeets the way these little guys clip to the ceiling is both simple - brilliant and a PITA ...... the little screws that come with them are somewhat of a beaaauch to self start - I would highly suggest you drill a little pilot hole. The nice thing about these clips.... you can hit trusses or ceiling joists and still connect the lights quickly - the 18" cable is nice to stretch them out too - I wish the cable came in a longer run however.

for the cost - I think they will brighten the shop up a huge about.

Skeets, I have mostly 8' bulbs all thru my basement and barn. I changed out the basement first, pulling the ballasts and bulbs. They were the noisiest lights I ever had. With the new LED bulbs and no ballast, quiet, bright and cheaper to operate. When I found the time, I did the same to the barn. Now no flickering in cold weather, instant on and bright like the sunshine. The 8' bulbs were not cheap but making up for that with the cost of electricity. I just changed out the few 4' bulbs I have and my wife at first complained it was too bright in the laundry room, but now loves it.

I do like the ones Hokie posted also.

Will have to look at them for a couple other places here.
