I'm starting to research 3rd function and grapple for my lx2610 and have questions for the group. I'm going to start with either Kubota or Landpride 3rd function kits being installed by my dealer and am going to look at the SCG06 series grapples. My main use for the grapple will be for cleaning up trees and limbs I cut down and the winter storm damaged trees. The forks work ok, but as I get older it gets harder to help get the "stuff" on the forks.

I know that the Kubota kit has hard lines that mount to the loader frame and the Landpride has hoses, also it appears that the Kubota one has more protection where it connects to the block.

Are there pros/cons to the controls for each?

I figure if the dealer installs everything I shouldn't have any trouble with making sure I have the correct hoses/connections and anything else that might cause me confusion. I also have factory rear remotes installed so I don't know if this adds to the complexity.

I’ve had no issues with Kubota 3rd functions on either tractor. Used rear remote for decades on older M5030 for FEL 3rd function. Had some benefits like more controllable clamping pressure and detents. Hard to beat electric buttons joy stick controls.

I had the Kubota kit on my LX2610 and had another one installed on my 3310. The only issue had was on the LX3310 when i broke the button off. It was replaced under warranty and it has a upgraded button that has little to no chance of breaking.

I have Kubota 3rd function kit on my L4240, and I chose Kubota because of the steel lines. They are attached with clamps designed and already on the loader. Also had the dealer install. That was about four years ago and it has always worked fine.

Its hard to beat the fit and finish of the Kubota kit. My LX2610SU has both the kubota 3rd function kit and the Kubota rear remotes (Plus the backhoe too)

I have the LP 3rd function on my LX2610SU. The only issue I had was that the dealer installed the knob with the buttons facing out and I kept pressing buttons when I didn't intend to. I'm talking about the knob on top of the loader control. I turned that knob around and it has been fine for the three years I have had the tractor.

I have read posts on this forum from people who are happy with other brands of 3rd function as well, so it might be worth your while to search the forum and see what others have said.

I have the land pride kit on my B2601 and wish the lines were a tad longer so I could angle the connectors differently. When curled up all the way the hoses can put pressure on the quick disconnect handles.

The only lines that my LX2610 have that might pull or push on the SSQA handles are the ones attached to the grapple itself. I put a couple of zip ties on them to keep them away from the SSQA handles.

Yeah, that's what happens to me too. If I was able to move where the connectors are on the loader it would minimize this. What I did do is put the connectors at an angle instead of straight out which did help.

Thanks for the inputs. I ordered the kubota 3rd function kit and scg0660 today. It should be installed in about 2 weeks.
