When you install the 2 lines under the tractor, (power beyond and tank ports)
do you need to plug the existing lines that are removed? or just ziptie them to the side....

Step 3 in the video explains where everything goes. https://summit-hydraulics.com/tfk8-interactive-video/

You're completely removing a short "jumper"-style line from the Power Beyond port of the loader control valve that goes back to the tank port. Your new lines go from the Power Beyond port on the Loader valve to the 3rd function and then from the 3rd function back to the tank port.

Thanks! never saw that video.... got it now!!

I was going by the PDF instructions which are not great.

I'm just sorting things out here before install.....

turns out they shorted me a machine screw that holds the body to the valve...
really Pissed me off.... but supposedly it's "on the way"

thanks again.

All good! I googled the part number to see if I could pull up the PDF and that video appeared. Was like well ain't that convenient! I struggled (still do) to fully wrap my head around hydraulics. A machine screw missing is annoying but not the end of the world, I'm sure we all have something in the junk drawer, or the local hardware store would have that easy enough. Good luck with your install, it's a great thing to have!!

On the bx23s I thought the port on the left was where you connect..

??

Hold up, you have this confused. You're telling him the wrong ports.
The Summit site isn't working right now, so I don't know how they tell you to hook it up, but there's only 2 ways you can do it correctly.

You either hook it up before or after the loader valve. Neither of which involve the tank port.

First off, this isn't the loader valve, or any valve. It's just a block of metal that the hydraulic lines connect to.
BX23S PB - Copy.jpg

Simplified basic hydraulics on the BX (trying to give a general idea, not an exhaustive explanation, for those that wish to critique).

On the BX hydraulic power flows pump - backhoe (if it's attached) - loader valve - 3 point hitch.

A hydraulic valve sends pressure to a hydraulic cylinder, allowing work to be done.

P is pressure being fed to a hydraulic valve.

Power beyond is an output from a hydraulic valve that allows hydraulic pressure to continue on so it can feed another valve further down the circuit.

T is used up pressure that is draining back to the tank to be re pressurized.

The red arrow points to the power beyond from the backhoe if the backhoe is attached, or the pump output if there's no backhoe. Kubota calls this the P (pump) port in the manual. Land Pride calls it the power beyond in their installation instructions.
This port feeds hydraulic pressure to the loader valve (which is inside the front right fender directly under the loader controls) via a short hose (let's call it hose A).

The blue arrow points to the PB port. This is fed FROM the loader valve (from the loader valves power beyond port via hose, let's call this hose B), and is effectively the loader valves power beyond. This is where pressure is fed TO the 3 point hitch.

The yellow arrow is the T (tank) port. This is used up pressure from the loader valve. This isn't used in the 3rd installation.

You're going to hook up your 3RD function either before or after the loader valve.

If you're hooking up before the loader valve you're inserting the 3rd function between the backhoe and the loader valve (see BOLD hydraulic diagram).
In this case you disconnect hose A, hook the feed for the 3rd F to the port at the red arrow, and hook the return to where hose A connected to the loader valve. You have now inserted the 3rd F in between the backhoe and the loader valve.

You now have:
Pump - backhoe (BX23S) - 3rd F - loader valve - 3 point.

If you're hooking up after the loader valve you disconnect hose B.
The feed for the 3rd F attaches to the loader valve where hose B was connected, and the return for the 3rd F attaches to where hose B connected to the hydraulic block. The 3rd F is now after the loader valve.

You now have:
Pump - backhoe(BX23S) - loader valve - 3rd F - 3 point.

Depending on the length of the hoses in your kit and what fittings you have/use you can either completely remove hose A or B, or you can simply disconnect one end and hook your kit hoses up to each of the open ports, paying attention to which connects to where.
For example the Land Pride instructions have you completely remove hose A, while WR Long has you disconnect hose B at the loader valve and connect there.

I know this stuff is rather simple in concept.

But for some reason it confused the heck out of me... mainly because nearly EVERY video or explanation tells you something different.

Even the Summit interactive video has you removing the wrong hose.
At lease that was the case on my 2017 BX23S

Anyway, I got it hooked up and the grapple works just fine. along with the loader... haven't tried the backhoe but I'm assuming that is fine also.

Here is what I did.....
In this picture the line on the left (PINK arrow) goes to the loader control valve.
I removed this line.

I then ran one hose from the P port on the 3rd function TO the loader control valve
the other hose went to the T port on the 3rd Function TO the tank port (PINK arrow)

Thats it.

everything works fine.

The following video is exactly how I routed the 2 rear hoses.

(the way he routed the front hoses to the loader would not work for me because I take my loader off often) the hoses are blocking the loader stand from releasing.

I also did not have to reroute hoses because they were too long.... Both 60" hoses were proper length. I did cut the mounting bracket and drill a new hole. for the 3rd F. valve to get it away from the treddle pedal a bit more.

First regardles of what any instruction sheet sayd the tank port is the yellow hose.

The other two hoses are usually called pump and power beyond but technically they are both NEUTRAL hoses.

Summit does not tell you to remove the wrong hose. The third function can be installed in place of either neutral hose. Some do it one way and others do it the other but both are fine.

I'm not getting into a pissing contest with a self proclaimed "know it all"

The "neutral" hoses you speak of are called Left- selective control valve and the right called -tank port. (according to the Summit instructional video)

They are NOT called pump and power beyond like you explained.

I'm sure you can use either one.
And Summit SHOULD have explained that.

But in hindsite, The way I did it is the easiest way to get to the loader control valve.
(exactly like the youtube video I posted) if you use the right hose, in BLUE ... that brings you to a tight situation on the back side of the loader control valve.
(probably have to remove the entire outer fender to get to it)

Another boner in the Summit video is instructing you to use the "longer" hose for the T-port on the valve body ... going back to the tank. They are BOTH 60" hoses.

In any case, I am quite happy with my installation and everything works as it should.

There is limited information on all these 3rd function kits.

If you really want to help someone, you should do a write up with simple to follow directions instead of trying to be an armchair quarterback with wiseazz remarks to someone who is genuinely looking for answers.

If anyone in the future needs help with a summit or any other kit For a BX23S, I would direct them to the YouTube video I posted.

It's straight forward and WORKS.

and the guy explaining is POLITE.

Please accept my apology if you felt I was being impolite. I have provided many diagrams and writeups and helped dozens of people and you are the first to take offense.

No arm chair quarterbacking here. My sole purpose was to try and clear up some of your confusion. There is no tank port or hose involved in that installation. Kubota is quite clear on what the ports and hoses are. - see the diagram below.. Its one of the clearest Kubota has ever published. Its people misidentifying those ports that has caused your confusion. Hopefully this diagram and the one I posted earlier clarifies things for you and helps the next person that comes along.
