Bought this rake last week. Very happy with it. Howse and Leinbach also make one, but have welded tines, which makes for expensive shipping and difficult delivery( LTL freight, think semi).FedEx delivered this one and I put it together in about an hour. I discovered by putting a 1 1/4 piece of pipe through the tines it was much easier to assemble as you could lift all the tines at the same time. Also make sure to put bottom two bolts in from the rear otherwise they will interfere with clamping bar.
I looked for one of these for a year on craigslist and only one showed up and was gone in less than a day. I also have a York rake and a landscape rake and like and use both, but for picking up leaves (mine are oak), pine straw and small branches the pine straw rake does the best job and moves the most material. I also intend to use this rake for planting grass seed. Can scratch the surface at very shallow depth and then use it to cover and then roll.
I think you would be disappointed using regular steel rake heads. the tines are too flexible and I think once you got even a little bit of material under them they would just start sliding over everything and I don't believe they would hold up on a three point application(too easy to bend).The other option is an estate rake, which is like a small hay rake. But then you still have to move the windrows and it is not a three point attachment.
