3pt hitch won't go down

I have a 48" tiller on the back of my B7610. This morning started it up, raised the tiller off the ground, moved the tractor and then cleaned the tiller off so that I could store it for the summer.

When I went to put it back on the ground the 3pt hitch wouldn't go down. I have hydraulic power to the hitch - I can tell because it flexes when I try to raise it more. I have stood on it to try to get it to go down. The PTO works to it but it won't go down.

And there are no other hydraulics being used at the same time (bucket).

Is the valve closed?

You have a round knob between your legs under the seat that controls the rate of descent of your 3 point hitch. You can rotate it right/left. If it's closed, it won't allolw any fluid to escape effectively locking the tph in position.

D'oh! That was it.

My 6 year old was on the tractor yesterday and he must have closed it all the way down.

Thank you. Now I can get back to work.

That was a quick and perfect question and reply...hehehe!
I'm going back out to finish up mowing my neighbors yard and will turn the knob as I suspect that I screwed mine up trying to adjust the seat myself.
My dog won't get in and my kids are allergic to mowing so I know one of them never touched it..LOL!

Men,

hate to cut in on your thread but I seem to have the same problem. My control valve knob came off and when I put it back on it doesn't seem to move much either way and the arms will not go down. Would this be my problem. How can it be fixed?

Thanks for all the help. I to have a son allergic to mowing.:)

I cussed, hit, spit, jumped and everything else on my bush hog last week. Then it hit me when I was I getting back on my tractor, my boot hit the knob into close position. Doh!!!!
