My 3130 model is not charging the battery. The 7.5 amp fuse for alternator keeps blowing out. Plus dash does not light up. Need help. Thanks

Take the altenator off and have it tested and make sure its charging like its supposed to. Thats a free test at most auto parts stores.

Alternator checks out fine, same for Battery. Tracked everything, wiring wise and cannot find any thing awry. Strange, when the 7.5 amp fuse labeled alternator circuit blows, the dash display goes blank, and battery does not seem to charge. Any other sugestions.

I am having the same problem. Any information on what the problem turned out to be?

Bill,

I am sure as you know ......that post was 5.5 years old!:)

I would however check all the wires that could be involved. A mouse may have had a field day and something is shorting out.

Can you tell us what happened ......"you started it after sitting a while" or "it was fine yesterday" - give us the history if any on the past running of the tractor.:)

It a long shot, but I was willing to ask. The tractor ran without issue the previous day. After startup, the digital display and tachometer went dead after a couple of minutes run time. Tractor started and ran as normal, but no dash indicators. Found 7.5 amp alternator fuse blown, and continued to blow immediately when the ignition was turned on. This afternoon I traced the wiring harness and disconnected the lead going into the back of the alternator. Replaced the fuse and the dashboard display is working again. Apparently an alternator issue. I think the voltage regulator is built into this alternator (?). Nearest Kubota dealership does not have anyone to work on alternators, so they are not much help.

Kubota Service department folks did not recommend buying a Kubota alternator due to the high price. They sold me an aftermarket alternator for less than half of the cost of the OEM part. Installed it yesterday & everything is back to normal. Time will tell if this alternator is as good as or better than the OEM part, but it was certainly less painful on the pocketbook.
