Hello everyone and thanks in advance.

I did a search on this but I got 17 pages of hits, so I guess its a new problem or I need better search skills.

I have an L3010 HST with a 481 (or 482?) loader. Last night, my wife discovered the loader will lift and float, but will not drop 'under pressure'. Otherwise, it works perfectly well.

I figure if the valve was worn out or broke the FEL would drop all by itself so I think this might be an adjustment problem - but it goes into float ok.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you mean I should disassemble the valve's innards?

Although I'm not a hydraulic pro, I do a lot of my own mechanics. Is this the sort of thing I can do myself? Any special tools, etc.

I was thinking maybe I'd have to rebuild the unit, like you rebuild a master cylinder, and my brother, who knows a lot of stuff in general told me these things don't use O-rings, etc.. Is that the case?

Thanks again

More than likely on the bottom side of the controls there will be a cup (sort of) looking deal that normally is held on with 4 bolts that can be removed. It will hold water in it and when it comes off you will find some springs and a few ball bearings and more nasty looking crap than you can imagine. Just clean all that stuff out and lubricate everything very well. I like a spray grease or something of that nature that will stick with it. After you lube it up just put it back together. I haven't worked on them all but it was fairly easy to do on mine. No special tool needed either. Good luck.

Ok. This is embarassing.

I took off the valve, had a good look, no corrosion, etc..

*Then* I realized she had the FEL backhoe in the "UP" position.

Backhoe lowered, problem solved. an hour wasted.

Doh!
