Hi. I have a mx5000 and while using my logging winch which was hooked up to a 24” ash tree I couldn’t get my 3 pt hitch to lift it. I know it was a somewhat heavy tree and coupled with the 800 lbs the winch weighs I was lifting a lot but I still feel like it should have lifted it. Is there a adjustment I can tweak to get a little more power out of my 3 pt hydraulic cylinders? If so how do I adjust it and how do I know when it’s right? Appreciate any help you folks have to offer.

Take off for the winch and you're down to probably around 1500lb lifting capacity at best on that tractor. Sounds like you need to make shorter logs. You could check you relief pressure but I doubt you will gain much unless it's really low for some reason.

For what it is worth, here are the specs off tractor data. I'm not making any claim they are correct. Only what is published on their website.

Rear lift (at ends): 2,866 lbs [1300 kg]

Rear lift (at 24"/610mm): 2,315 lbs

I’m thinking that 24” ash hooked to your 800lb winch is still pretty stout, even though it’s not maple or hickory which are heavier yet.

Plus, the winch itself extends back a ways making lifting more difficult.

Using 200’s specs, you’d think it would pick it...but I know from experience 24” logs, even ash, are heavy.

On some larger Kubota's the lower 3 pt arms have two possible holes for the lift rods to connect to. One position for maximum height and another for maximum weight.

Compare yours to the page from a different model's owners manual.

Was it a whole Ash Tree or just a shorter log?

I pondered this some more. I would definitely check the lower link mounting points Dave Eng suggested. Great idea!

Looking at 200's specs, Ed Ritchey hit it about perfect at 1500lbs, but that's as long as everything is within 24" of lower links.. the winch itself, with log behind it, may easily be 36"...or more, behind the links....

Depending on length, I'm guessing even a relatively short (12') 24" large-end ash log can be close to a ton/2,000 pounds, easy.

Granted, you don't have to lift the whole thing....but maybe that big ash is a little much to pick wit the winch on....

Again, I'm just throwing out some thoughts.

EDIT: Whoops...200mph beat me to it....:p

Man these posts are something. I want to make my tractor do more. Tweak the hydraulics to lift more on the 3 point, turn up the pressure on the BX to lift more with the loader. The limits are set for a reason. You are here to complain about the limitations so the system worked. It is a tractor not a log skidder. Make smaller logs. I would rather read about the disappointment than an obituary. Ya want to do bigger things get a bigger machine. Brings to mind my old neighbor who is gone now. His brother had a Massey that he tweaked to do more. Tipped it over and died leaving several young children behind. Who do you think has the liability after you modified the machine.

Out of curiosity, was the weight per cubic foot for dried wood or green wood? Is this log dried or fresh? It makes a difference.

Not everyone can have a tractor to play with, but those who do should have two. One that is just right for nearly everything they do and one that is bigger than they would ever need.
