Thanks Vic and the other guys for your responses to my inquiry. Much appreciated. Just read your article about this matter, Vic. Newly posted I think.
I did not install the spin-on filter; it was installed by a previous owner and only had <40 hours on it when we bought the tractor. All I did was to check the oil level using the dip stick, and add about 250 ml of additional fluid (purchased from Kubota), to see if that would make any difference to the rate at which the 3ph goes up. No difference.
By the way, when I lift the FEL and bucket and turn off the engine, the bucket dumps pretty quickly, i.e., in about 5 seconds. That's not a slow leakdown. The FEL is a Kubota B1630B installed on the tractor when purchased in 1992, I believe.
I'll follow your (Vic) advice and look at the other two filters when I'm next at the machine which will be in February. It's "around the bay" in an old barn waiting for spring action. That's 2.5 drive north of St. John's.
I'll let you know how it goes in a few weeks' time. Peter
