I'm after some advice on my 3 point hitch.

The first thing - when I move the lever to lower it fully it drops part of the way quickly, then takes a long time to drop fully.

Fully up

5 seconds after moving lever to lower fully

3 minutes after moving lever to lower fully

4 minutes after moving lever to lower fully - as low as it goes

Is this normal, or is there something I need to check, adjust or fix ?

The second issue is that while using it with the ballast box on and set to about half height it drops in height so that the bottom of the box eventually hits the ground. Is this leaking seals on the 3 point piston/cylinder ?

The 3 point speed adjustment valve appears to work (doesn't lower at all when I close it) and is set to the fully open fastest lowering rate position.

All help appreciated.

Yea your very likely going to need to throw a set of seals on the three point cylinder.
Easy job for someone of your skill set!

Lower the three point, turn off the tractor
Pull 6 bolts, pull the cover, lap up any fluid on top of the piston.
Pick up the three point arms, holding them up.
Push the cylinder to the bottom of the cylinder, put a rag laying down in front of the piston.
Now drop the three point arms, should pop the piston right out onto the rag! ;)

Thanks for these tips - it's almost like you've done it before.

This is in response to the speed question.

That seems pretty normal for the lowering speed with nothing on the arms and the speed knob set to fast.

You can test where the leakage is happening using your ballast box and the speed knob. Raise the load and open the speed knob to fast then turn off the tractor. The load may come down and you can time it if you care to but just knowing it moves down or not is sufficient. Then close the speed knob to LOCK position and raise the load and turn off tractor. If the load still goes down in that position the cylinder seals are leaking, if not then the control valve is leaking.

I don’t think the control valve can be repaired only replaced but not 100% sure.
