25 years ago today

I will never forget the feeling of being sucker punched in the guts when I heard the horrible news that morning on the truck radio. Just knowing my American friends were in desperate need of help and I had no way of getting there was a feeling I can't begin to describe. Please lets not loose what we had, it's too good to let go. All the best to all who have and still do suffer through what happened that dreadful day, take care my friends.

Never forget that day.


I was working nights driving a truck back from long island the next morning…


Howard Stern show was talking about it… I thought it was howard bullschit


flipped over to 880 AM news and everyone was going nuts.


You could see the black smoke from exit 32 on the expressway….


Going over the Throggs neck bridge turn to the left, One building was gone.


I had a motorola flip phone at the time… no signal… nobody had a signal, the cell tower went down with the building.


surreal drive home…. everyone was flying down the highway… but everyone was courteous… letting you over, hand gestures and waves…. strange thing Especially when your in a tractor trailer….


Everyone knew something was very very wrong. Trying to get home to family.


that was short lived though…


for 2 weeks after, traffic was backed up for miles at every bridge and tunnel crossing.. people were back to angry new yorkers.


We ran trailers of bottle water to ground zero and reefer trailers for recovery of the non survivors.


doesn’t seem like 25 years.


I’m still pissed.


can’t believe they voted in Zohran Mamdani …. he is one of them.

My dad, my wife's brother in law and his son were in the towers. All managed to get out as debris rained down.
My dad was exiting the elevator, just coming down from Num 1 top floor at about 8:45AM, The BIL, was in Num 2 when 1 was struck, and he had his people evacuate from (IIRC) floor 39 at about 9AM, his son was just exiting the building having arrived at 9AM via PATH and debris was just falling.

Surreal.
