2120 chute not aligned?

The mower keeps leaving clumps of grass behind when box is empty, I notice that when the deck is lowered to cut that there is a 3" gap between the top of the deck chute and the tunnel that directs the grass into the collection box, I can see daylight? Also large amounts of grass is collecting under the rattle plate? Is something adrift here? Thanks,

As you can see with the deck raised it fits perfectly into the tunnel, with the deck lowered there is a big gap at the top and when running at full revs and cutting grass max 2" long it leaves clumps and throws grass under the clearing plate,
