Just came from our local dealer yesterday. Learned that the BX2680 will now be called a "dash 1." or more properly a BX2680-1. Changes are apparently minor, with the bulk of them in cosmetics. More importantly the ergonomics have supposedly been improved, which is nice. Kubota had a 3% price increase take place yesterday, and they have extended the "0%, 60 month financing" on these tractors til June 30, 2021. Downside is that these new tractors will be in short supply for a number of months. Hope this info helps others who are currently in the market for a new BX tractor.

Dang Glen, don't like to hear about the price increase. I'm still shopping for a L2501 and see the unit I put together online yesterday is over $800 more today. I just can't decide on the tranny....and that just cost me almost a grand for waiting. Time to take my ideas to the dealers soon I guess.

To me, nope, the price increase has come, unlikely to be another one for months. Given you've already delayed enough to be hit by it, no hurry now. If you have time you could wait to see if their sales drop off and they have to offer more incentives to get their sales volumes back.

We are experiencing significant price increases across the total industrial sector, the price of steel and metals has increased significantly in the last few months. Supply chains are experiencing considerable difficulty, nearly every US auto plant is experiencing forced production shut downs due to chip shortages. Fuel and food costs are increasing! This may not be the only Kubota price increase in the next 12 months, lead times for many Kubota products are increasing

The forecast for coming out of COVID is for a high growth economy. If you are thinking about a new tractor I am suggesting that maybe you make a move, there are going to be no great bargains or discounts to be had in the near future.

These are strange times, I purchased several attachments in December last year that have still not arrived yet, production is backed up, component shortages, delivery issues.

Yeah if you want it for this Spring season it probably should have been ordered a couple months ago. But maybe you'll luck into finding one coming in, in a couple months that's not already spoken for. Do you still have the 8N? If so here's a comparison someone with one wrote up after trying an L2501.

This.

I’m trying to buy a mountain bike right now. Some bikes have just went up randomly 10-20%. There are bikes back ordered from last year. There are very few bikes in stock. And I’m not taking some niche brands either. I’ve been told there are hiccups in the supply chain where bikes are fully built but are missing one part and so they sit. Or there are no shipping containers to ship them. Some manufacturers aren’t even giving ETAs anymore.

It’s a mess. Sounds like it’s hitting all markets.

Does anyone have a place they go to to get land pride implement pricing? I’m looking to get a box blade and can’t find pricing anywhere online. It’s for my BX so probably a BB05 or BB12, I think that’s what the numbers are.. 48”.

You need to go through a dealer for Land Pride pricing. BB0548 is $799 and BB1248 is $665 at my local dealer. Not sure if that makes sense! Shop around and compare similar products.

I would go with the BB12 if you buy Land Pride as weight helps.

Thank you Sir, that helps at least I have pricing to compare to others. It will be for light yard & driveway work but yes weight does matter. Planning on bringing in some loads of dirt for my yard.. have quite a few low sunken areas and roots above ground.

Thanks for sharing the link Oliver. I do still have my 1953 8N. Needs some more TLC and not sure yet if I'll trade it in our keep it and stick some money in it. It's been good to me for the 45 years I've owned it.

Yup, the reality of global supply chains hitting. It's always been known that they save a few cents per unit when things are working well. And when things aren't working well it's a train wreck. Even when you buy local that local thing may have upstream parts that come internationally.

Probably 10 years back I read a report that reckoned that on-shoring would be the new thing. Chinese staff were paid about 30% of what a US worker earned. But they were half as productive, then you have shipping costs, inventory costs, etc. And Chinese staff were getting pay rises of 8-10% a year as they become a middle income country, US staff about 2%. The crossover point where it was just cheaper to do it onshore wasn't that far off.

If your market is pile them high and sell them cheap, then you squeeze out that last cent. Offshore components make sense. But if you're making quality product, the intangible cost of not being able to go down the road and have a chat to your supplier to tweak designs and get a product that's a bit better is quite high. And there are a lot of quality control problems with sourcing components from someone you don't even have a common language with and can't easily visit.

I expect the next decade to see a lot of manufacturing shifting closer to the consumer, helped by some more automation and a bit of technology like 3D printing for some elements. People are getting more interested in hand crafted stuff, and Americans are slowly becoming a bit more European in their outlook - quality is starting to be more important than quantity.
