Do I need to only run the noted ultra low sulpher diesel, or could I run #1. Heating oil without issue??
Run the ULSD, most heating oil is low sulfur too now days.

The old stuff had the sulfur in it to lubricate the valves and it raised the cetane number too.

All new diesel are designed to run on the lower or rather ultra low sulfur.

You ask the question - because you have a large amount of heating oil that you need to burn?

Depends on your unit. Also your location.
Assuming you are in Alaska, your fuel oil may be LSD or ULSD.

Thanks for the reply, and yes, I have some heating oil I would like to use up.
