I’m looking at a 2018 L3301 that only has 87 hours on it and looks brand new. The price is right too. A friend is telling me there are a lot of issues with the DPF on these tractors. I’ve searched through the forums but I’m finding much about DPF problems. His sister has had hers in the shop 3 times for DPF problems and I’m starting to think it may be an operator issue not a tractor issue. Have any of you had DPF issues?

thanks, Frank

That model does not have a lot of DPF issues, in fact I would say it's one of the least problematic.

Tell your sister to hammer the throttle and drive it like she stole it! HAHAHA
Seriously, keeping the RPM's up especially in winter, and not letting them Idle goes a long way to keep them breathing normally!

The model with the DPF issues was the B3350. Not the L3301.

I have not had any issues with my 3301.
I purchased it new and it has about 150hrs.
It's a great little tractor.

If that was a common trouble for that model, I’d think this forum (especially the moderators ie…NIW) would be able to confirm that it was or not…so I’d sort of question (respectfully the source)….I think based off limited details maybe better question is what has the specific unit (by serial number) you are looking at has had problems or tractor had any service or warranty work…honestly 87 hrs is barely first service…but it should have had a regen by now…if there legitimately was work done, it would have been under warranty and I would expect the dealer that serviced it would have the records if the owner did not. Maybe ask the owner if any warranty problems or work done and what it was…ask for a copy of the warranty work completed or which dealer did the service and ask for the records….if something raises an eyebrow ask the forum. Maybe that could put mind at ease? Warranty work is not bad as long as the problem is fixed…you can have that with any make/model/product…key is that if something was wrong that it was fixed and not still problem. There is nothing wrong with a proper repair that solved the problem. Also be aware warranty work can happen to a new unit on the lot before it is sold…so can market action/recall…key is ‘it’s been fixed’….But maybe there was nothing ever wrong with the unit you are considering…I’d start there.

140 hrs on my 2020 l3301. No dpf issues here. Also there are quite a few l3301 owners around me. Not a peep

1100hrs on my 2018 L3301 that I bought new.
No DPF issues here whatsoever—run it hard—and be maniacal about using clean dry diesel.

Not quite the same tractor but in the same family. I have a 2017 L3901 that I purchased in 2019 with about 300hrs. I now have almost 700hrs on it without any issues. Like others stated do not let it idle for long periods of time and when the regen light comes on raise the RPM to 2500 regardless until the light goes out. Great tractor and quite a workhorse in a compact frame.

Frank,
The advice offered in post #2 by Woolfman, is pure gold!
He is a widely recognized Kubota guru!
You really need to hotfoot over there with a bundle of cash, and buy yourself a Kubota tractor!
If you hesitate, someone else will surely buy it.

Sounds like a good deal. If it turns out to not be the tractor for you, you should be able to sell it for what you paid. They're a good machine that is in reasonable demand.
