My KX41-2V does the same thing. Same vintage as yours, although I don't know when it was made.

I have learned to live with it by holding the track directional levers at different positions to make it track pretty much straight. Not sure why yours will not go into high speed mode after the final drive change...

I'll be interested in the help you get here...sorry I can't give any...

curious as a friend has one(lot older though...)

looking at K CDA online parts to see 'how ? ' it works...

The final drives are the same(no left vs right...)

WHAT controls low speed/high speed operation ?
I suspect some 'lever adjustment may be out of whack, hard to believe you could 'cross connect' hydraulic hoses wrong....
I'd compare 'left vs right' or 'good vs bad' , for all the levers and range of motion

Does the replaced motor travel in one direction faster than the other direction?

I just remembered I have a part of the repair manual for this excavator. If interested, PM me and I can probably email it to you.

Just a thought,,,not the complete manual...just the mechanism part...for what that is worth. Does show the hydraulic diagrams. It is a generatic manual that covers the complete series...but still usable for the smaller unit.

With the kx121 there is a fine speed adjustment for the levers. I would think yours would be the same.

Checking the kx121. Kubota allows up to 600mm of drift off center in 10 meters of travel. Seems like a lot to me, but that's what they allow.

no its both directions
Since the issues is both directions, leaves you with 3 reasons:
Flow is being restricted, could be blockage in line, fitting, or valve.
The is an issue with the valve where the control is not moving the valve spool correctly.
Or the motor that you installed has a different flow per rpm rate than the original motor.

I'm cornfused....
he says it doesn't go into 'hispeed' mode and that to me is a different problem than 'not same speed as other track'....

It sounds like you're having a frustrating issue with the final drive motor on your 2000 KX41-2 excavator. Here are a few steps you can take:

  1. Check Hydraulic Connections: Ensure that all hydraulic connections are properly secured and there are no leaks. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause the final drive to underperform.
  2. Hydraulic Pressure and Flow: Verify that the hydraulic pressure and flow to the new final drive match the specifications. Differences in hydraulic pressure between the two sides can cause one side to move slower than the other.
  3. Speed Control Solenoid: Many excavators have a speed control solenoid that regulates the high and low-speed modes. Check to ensure that the solenoid on the new final drive is functioning correctly. If it’s not engaging properly, the drive won’t switch to high-speed mode.
  4. Calibration or Adjustment: Some final drives may require calibration or adjustment to synchronize with the machine’s existing controls. Refer to the manual for any specific instructions on adjusting the speed settings.
  5. Consult the Seller: If you bought the final drive from eBay, contact the seller to ensure you received the correct part and ask for any specific installation instructions that might help.
