Hey guys I am new to the forum, I just picked up a new to me B1550 with 1200 hours on it. It has a few issues I need to take care of on it. The major one is the free play in the steering. I have done a search and found a bunch of posts on the issue. I had a few questions that weren't answered.

The rebuild procedure in the articles section, is that for a PS box or manual box? Also, I don't have any fluid leaking out the top of my column, so I am guessing the lower seal is still ok, but I do have about a 1/4 turn worth of play in the wheel. I am guessing that just replacing the bushing and seal at the top of the column is not going to get rid of this play, I am guessing I need to rebuild the entire box?

Thanks for any and all help!

There is an adjustment that you can do which may take out some of the play. A lock nut and set screw on the side of the box. Have you checked all the linkages and tie rods to make sure the play is not there?

I can move the steering wheel about a 1/4 turn before I can see it start to move the drag link on the steering box. There are a bunch of tie rod ends that need to be replaced as well. I am hoping they are all adding up to make the play as bad as it is.

Yea I would try the adjustment on the side of the box first.
