Taking delivery of a 1990 b7200 4wd gear w FEL tomorrow. My first tractor!!

There's s few issues that in my mind need immediate attention.

First and foremost. The hand throttle linkage does not stay in any position. Just as soon as you set it. It falls back to idle. I've searched and found a pretty good picture blow apart and am confident I'll get it fixed in no time. My question is do I need to take apart the dash to get to the tension setting bolt?.

On my neighbors 8200 it's just sticking right there outside the body panels. However it goes into the body on the this 7200. Has anybody addressed this and if so would you mind telling me how you got to the tension bolt.

Secondly. The the rear diff lock pedal sticks down when depressed. I have to manually lift it back up to disengage. Is this just a matter of greasing it up so it's free or is there an underlying problem that could cause this.

Thanks so much in advance. , I've been all around this forum and know there are some good minds and helpful folks on here.

Somebody with a B7200 should weigh in, until they do the only help I can offer in on the diff lock. On the BXs there is a spring on the linkage to the pedal. I would check the spring and spray some penetrating oil on the shaft into the the differential. Then work the shaft to free it up.

Thanks grouse. I read somewhere that they can get stuck w lack of use. I imagine working it back and forth w some good oil will free it up.

W the 7200 being as old as it is. I worry, current owners will be few and far between.

Oh there are plenty of them out there! That isn't anywhere near the oldest Kubota's on here, in fact some would call the a Newer tractor. :D

Fair enough. I almost bought a 77ish l185. Which was in fantastic condition. Kind of feel like I should've. But the 7200 was much closer. And should do all I need. Hopefully.

I should have taken pictures. But was in a hurry to get the job done and forgot. I got it fixed today pretty easily. First I diagnosed that the tension bolt wasn't even on the hand throttle. So I Started by trying to remove dash, but steering wheel was seized on real good and wasn't budging. so I looked for other options.

With the 4 dash bolts removed. There was just enough room to stick my hand in from the drivers side (passenger vehicle orientation). I put washer. Lock washer. And a nut on all at the same time because it was not easy to get my arm bent in the perfect z shape and I didn't want to do it 3 times. After that came the ratchet. sockets. Wobble extensions and lots of extensions to get it out enough to put the tool on it. Snugged it down just right. Good as new.

Proceded to bury the tractor in the mud trying to widen my creek.... Twice.

Same model tractor I've owned for the last 4 years, and it still amazes me with what it's capable of doing. I haven't had any of the issues you've mentioned yet, but I've almost got it stuck in the mud once, but that doesn't count since I used the front loader pushed myself out ;). My only suggestion for a new tractor owner would be to get the rear tires loaded, it really helps with traction, and also helps to keep the shiny side up when your using the loader.
