Hey Piker, Looks like my plan to pick a usable old hub at a reasonable price went south. They are getting $75 for a used B7100 axle hub of the old design which would still need to be cut apart and modified.

So on to plan "C" what ever that turns out to be. So far choices are
1.) Lay up tractor while doing mod on existing hubs in middle of NE snow season.
2.) Purchase one new design hub @ $185 so I can do mod to existing and not tie up tractor while doing mod.
3.) Purchase one used old style hub @ $75 to do mod on & not tie up tractor

Thanks again for getting me inspired to do something about this design flaw issue that has bugged me for many years. You rock man...

P.S. The Welder is a necessary tool to do the great mods to your Orange Baby... LOL

I just purchased new replacement hubs (the new design) off of http://www.plowboyequipment.com/ for $99.62 plus shipping. Cheaper than ebay and a better option for me since I do not have a welder yet and only can bug my neighbors so many times to help with welding projects. Much better deal than from Kubota.

Lucky, thanks for the link. Good to know that they are available cheaper... How do you like them? Are they keeping the wheel in place firmly and from moving and sqeaking? What was the recommended torque spec on the side bolt to keep them in place?

No torque spec on bolt, just cranked them as tight as I could. They work awesome. Solid on axle with no squeaks. Much better design.

I have a used but still serviceable old style hub that I would sell for $30.00 plus the cost of shipping. In fact I have another that is broken that I will through in for the same price. I really don't know how much to $$ ship but if you are interested I will find out. I replaced these with the new style hubs on my B7100 when one of then broke.
email me at storrey@sad60.k12.me.us if you are interested.

I'll stealing your hub repair before you get a pattent # on it!

With that plow frame attaching all the way back to the 3pt hitch, you'd need something to keep the plow tracking straight and take any side loads. Those front sway chains look like they'll do the trick, but only when the plow is down. Maybe some guide plates droping down off the front frame would be all you need? Be mindful of the sideloads on the plow when your blade is all the way up and rolling over the tops of the banks. I've bent and broken my Moose ATV plow frame this last winter. Seems that a mailbox post set in a snowbank can stop a Honda Foreman doing 10 mph! I've since beefed up the plow frame with some cross members between the mounting points and use slow speed traction and not impact at speed when rolling over the tops of the banks. The rear 3ph on my B6000E pulls the snow blower up using a cable run under the tractor with 3 pulleys, works good, and fast once the gear oil is warmed up. You could look at something like that type of set up if your giving up on the weaker and slower atv winch. You may need to somehow fix the height of the bottom arms to the top link point, and just use the actuator arms to pull the cable up that runs under to the front.

Hey Rust Addict, Help yourself to the hub repair no patents pending! That old plow & frame are now semi-buried after our storm last week. Made a custom bracket & installed a 5' Kimpex ATV plow that angles. Retained the quick detach mount & can mount on my Honda ATV 4x4 if desired. Plow works great but is not as rugged as the old homemade one (which is going to transform into a 3 point rear blade when I get a couple of woodworking jobs done). Here is a link to the current plow & the bracket I made to mount it. http://s572.photobucket.com/albums/ss166/Piker_photos/Kubota B7100/B7100 - ATV Snow Plow/

I'm kinda finding the 5' blade is a bit wide. It has handled a couple of wet, heavy snow storms OK but find it kind of cumbersome manuevering around car, truck, trailer, etc. Actually slightly scraped a little bit of paint off my wife's 2010 Ford Escape. Easy enough to cut a chunk off each end of the blade when I get it back in the shop next week. I'll run a string along the tires with the blade angled & decide what I can live with. More crap coming in the next few days.

Sorry about your wifes car. The first year I had my B6200 with plow, I scraped my father-in-law's $250 000 RV. This was his baby, he would spend about 4 days a month cleaning and waxing it. Did I ever feel sick having to come in and tell him what happened.:(

After destroying the vinyl corner post on my shop (tight squeeze between deck & shop), I cut 6" off each end of my blade. I saved the pieces in case I decide to weld them back on sometime. I also acquired a 12 voly elecric/hydraulic power pack used to raise/lower & angle a snow plow on a truck. I might use one of the smaller cylinders to raise/lower my front plow & save the large one to angle my rear blade (under construction now). Motor/pump can mount on the hitch receiver, same as the winch I'm using now to raise/lower the blade. It can also be moved to the rear to angle the rear blade - rear blade will only be used in Spring, Summer & Fall when rear blower & front blade are removed.
