Since this is not directly Kubota related - I hope this "off topic" is the proper place to post this...if not, I apologize and it can be deleted.

I have a couple of Kubota's (much thanks to many of the members here for my huge # of questions as I learned along the way, and still am)...

I also have a 1959 Allis Chalmers D17 Serial # 28096.
She runs great and I mow with her all the time...I would like to get it fully restored..seems like it would be mostly cosmetic (making her look new) rather than too much mechanical...as I said she runs great.

I am in Western PA (about 20 miles outside Pittsburgh) - anyone know of a place to have this properly restored by good people who give a darn and not just do some slop job?

Thanks in advance.

Yep right place to post it.
I know of several, but the fact that we're all the way on the other side of the US it probably wouldn't be practical.
Hope someone on that side of the US can point someone out.

Well, I know a couple of guys here in the mid-west, but that is still a long ways to Penn.

There's got to be folks nearby who take pride in such work!

Post some pictures for us to enjoy.

I would check in with a couple farm equipment repair places. Not dealers necessarily. See if they know of anyone that specializes in restorations.

You could do a web search for a local Allis Chalmers club.

Looks like I might have found a place. Spoke to him already,
seems to do very good work. Mostly does Ford's he said, but can and will do an Allis Chalmers..and he is literally 10 miles from where the tractor is.

Make sure he uses the right color for the time period. They used a different orange in later models. I am unsure of when it changed. The D17 was a sought after tractor in its day. Well built and user friendly. I spent many hours of my youth on a series III. That thing does not look bad in the photo. I would consider leaving it alone. It is only original once, after it is restored it will never be original again. Every scratch and dent is a story.

Nice looking for the age. I spent a lot of time on CA's WD's and a 170. Like Kurtee stated, make sure they get the right color of Persian orange. If you get the lighter color it will not look correct. The older ones should be a darker color.
