Guys and Gals, I am in the process of clearing out the final portion of the barn of my MIL's old place. There is an old 1952 Massey Harris "Pony" that has belt PTO. Cultivators on it and an old belt driven saw table saw table on the back is in the other barn. It was running when it was parked approximately 15 years or so ago. I am thinking of taking it to a local auction in the spring as I do not really have the interest in restoring it. Do any of you guys have any idea of what it might be worth? It is tough to find any real good data on this old girl. It has been well used and from what I can tell we have all the sheet metal for it. I will try to add a pic or two when I can get to my phone. Thanks for any information

If you are taking it to an auction its value is the high bid on that particular day.
If selling by an ad somewhere start high maybe $2-3000 obo and be prepared to come down a lot.
For the tirekicker misery involved, Id take it to an auction. But maybe you enjoy that? Some do.

Being able to state that the engine is not stuck will also help bring up the value. Before you do anything to detemine if it is or not.....pull the spark plugs and douse each cylinder with good penetrating oil (kroil, etc.) and let sit a few days before trying to turn the engine crankshaft manually. If it doesn't turn.... try again in a few more days. Rinse and repeat.

^^^^^ What @D2Cat says.
In our area, the little "Pony's" are quite collectible and can command quite a high price depending on condition.

A thorough power washing will add a lot of value, if for no other reason than it makes the tractor look like less of a piece of junk.

As that tractor sits right now in the picture you posted $200-500 at best. If anyone thinks $2-3000 then, I have a backyard full of tractors they can buy. Non running, unrestored, not extremely rare antique tractors don’t have a lot of value. Everyone thinks they do, but buyers don’t.

Good suggestion, I will do that in a few weeks when I can drag it out of the barn.

I wouldn't take that tractor to a consignment auction. In my area at auction that tractor would bring scrap value. I wouldn't power wash it and take the chance of getting water inside the tractor and causing issues. Its a barn find and has been inside out of the weather. If your mechanic I would try to get it running if not then don't. Yesterdays tractor might find you a collector. In my area that would bring between thousand and two thousand the way its setting. A lot of the fellows that collected them are dead or in the home. The price of not so rare tractors of that era has come down as the next set of collectors are restoring newer tractors. I have a 1950 JD A that my FIL bought new that I have spent a bunch of money on and today it would probably only bring two grand on a good day. Not much demand for that kind of tractor any more.

I appreciate the insight. I know it was running when it was parked as my FIL used it for his garden plot every year until he could not climb up on it any longer. Based upon the info provided on this forum, I think I will try to get it running and go from there. I fondly remember the distinct purr of that old little tractor.

This is strictly a guess, but I would imagine between 1 and 2K if the “right guy” is there at the auction.

However, sub 1K is a distinct possibility, I would imagine.

But since I am not a collector, my opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it. ;)
