10W 30 oil

Hey folks so some thing just came up on another forum about 10W 30 oil vs 10W 30 diesel oil,my grey Zl2202DT-M calls for 10W 30 on a under the hood sticker,now guessing where I live and my last oil change was just general auto blend (dino/synth) 10W 30,its running a D1402 engine,I am due for a change do I stick with the common oil or change it up to the required 10W 30 diesel oil,thanks.

Diesel grade has more additives so go with that.

Any oil is better than no oil, and it's not the end of the world if you run gasser oil in a diesel once in a while, but a diesel engine should get diesel oil. There is a reason for the difference.

Diesels create particulates that will get by the rings - these little particles will get into the oil.

Diesel oils have additives that will help deal with those.

As mentioned - diesel oil is best for diesel engines - in a pitch or because you had to add for the weekend is one thing to have non diesel added. But you really want to run the correct oil for that machine.

You may want to look into Rotella T6 5w-40 if you can get it up there across the border - great for cold starts and has more than enough additives and is synthetic to boot.

Except now diesels are stuck with cat cons as well.

Yes. But the additives are still better than gas engine oil. To my knowledge... the emission equipment, DPF's are different than gasoline catalytic converters.

The DPF to my understanding is not a cat con and from my research they use a very similar cat con to a regular gas engine car

DPF does not normally have a cat con in the DPF

there is a cat con before the dpf. two different components. Kubota calls it a DOC, diesel oxidizing catalyzer (as I remember). DOC and DPF are separate but all built into the same "muffler assembly".

yes CJ4 and newer CK4 rated oil is good for the DPF. Basically it's a different additive package that helps keep the DPF from getting "dirty". There is also, I think, FA4 and it's not really rated for "high speed" diesels that Kubota uses a lot of.

I run diesel oil in all of my older gas engines. Works great and the detergent cleans oil the engines, and they keep running a lot longer.

I run Rotella T 15w-40 in just about everything I own.... 311k on the jeep.... 200k on the powerstroke.... 100k on my K1200LT BMW bike.... etc etc.

I don't use Rotella, about 23 tears ago, when I bought a diesel motor home I called Cummings and had a very good long talk with the engineering dept. and they said to go to the spec. on the container don't worry about the brand. Ever since I have been running the Walmart brand. Same spec. and costs less.

I use T-6 5W-40 in every piece of outdoor equipment I own. My generator, walk behind mower and my snow blower. Makes my life easier to buy one well ranged high grade oil for all. Works like a champ. I would be using it in my vehicles as well but due to tight clearances and warranty requirements of our 2 Toyotas I take the newer RAV4 Hybrid to the dealer every 5k for it's 0W-16 oil changes and I use 0W20 as required for my Highlander with 3.5V6 engine every 5K. So I have to stock 2 oils. I take the RAV to the dealer due to it being under warranty. Don't ever want oil changes to come into question if on the outside chance something should go wrong.

I dont blame ya for not wanting to mess with warrenty, but i think the 3.5L (same as my taco) in other parts of the world allow whatever weight of oil suits the temps..... what reading ive done is these thin oils help with economy/emmissions. Ive ran T6 5w40 in my tacoma a few oil changes. Cant say i noticed any difference.
