    Adding trailer hitch to G1900

Hello, thank you very much for the replies ! Ok, so the plate should be a hitch but as I guessed already it is not a good idea. I will make something attached to the frame and remove the plate altogether. All I want to do is pull a tiny trailer for garden tools around every now and then, the...

    Adding trailer hitch to G1900

Hello, I would like to add a trailer hitch to my Kubota G1900 lawn tractor to tow a small garden trailer. I searched on the internet for some pictures but without conclusive results. The tractor has a plate mounted to the bottom of the differential and I have seen people simply mounting a ball...

Fixing hole in side of block

Hello Joe, by the way, the original subject of this thread, with now 857 posts, was fixing a hole in the block. Is that actually fixed and leak free? I know you wrote something about that but I cannot find it any more. Kind regards, Hugo

Fixing hole in side of block

Hi Joe, the surface where the flywheel is mounted is a precision surface and fit. You cannot have any sealer on it, the flywheel may work itself loose. So PLEASE take the flywheel off again and remove the sealer. Kind regards, Hugo

Arghhh, Joe, you should not have spread the gunk over everything. It does not help on the outside and near the shaft seal I am not sure, it may be counter productive. Thinly on the fixed gasket and outside the seal ring, yes, but not anywhere else. Kind regards, Hugo p.s.: use grey stuff next...

PTO lever adjustment Despite having replaced the PTO v-belts by Mitsuboschi belts in the correct size the deck would not start properly when engaging the PTO lever. I noticed that somebody had replaced the PTO brake adjustment bolt by one that was too long and the head hit the frame and...

Throttle linkage When taking off the dashboard to check the temperature gauge I noticed the bowden cable of the throttle linkage was badly frayed. I removed the linkage and wanted to reuse the outer part, just give it a new plastic sleeve. But when I took it off I noticed it had chafed...

Hello Joe, but you read the part from North Idaho Wolfman about the clutch, did you? How do you want to do a job with this tractor with a slipping clutch I wonder? Kind regards, Hugo

Cutting deck The position of the cutting deck was wrong as explained by some helpful members here on the forum. The RC48-G20 is the right deck for this tractor but the front linkage is the wrong type. It was from another deck and had been cut and welded already but was still too long. The...

Some cosmetics Yes, I know cosmetics should come later but I am using the tractor for cutting the lawn grass and I could not stick the steering wheel centre cover missing, so I splashed out and bought a brand new one for about 25€. And cleaned the manky steering wheel. Looks much better now, I...

    Reviving a G1900

Thank you very much ! I think it can be brought back to good working order with relatively little money and a bit of time. And I think it's better than just buing a new one.

Oil pressure warning light The oil pressure warning light was not working. I unplugged the cable of the oil pressure switch on the right side of the engine near the oil filter and shorted it to the engine block. Light in the dash came on immediately. So the switch itself is faulty. Had...

Getting the radiator back in ... ... was an altogether different story. I had taken it out with the brackets holding it to the frame. I thought of attaching the brackets first and the simply putting in the bolts from below and securing them with the clips. Not a hope. After struggling for...

Radiator The radiator was badly clogged up on the outside and dirty inside. I cleaned the radiator with pressurised air and straightened the bent fins and flushed the inside with water a few times. The expansion vessel is difficult to clean from the outside with a brush due to the odd...

Problem with fan belt I had replaced the fan belt already but after only 2-3 hours it was slack and down by 1.5mm width already. It had beed fitted with the correct tension, checked with a belt tension gauge. My theory is that due to corrosion the pulleys are too rough and wear out the belt...

Water hose replacement (second attempt) and more.... (of course) I also wanted to replace the thermostat because the temperature gauge showed a very low temperature. First thing I checked is the alarm connected to the over temperature switch located at the thermostat. Unplug the wire and short...

Water hose replacement Since one of the water rubber hoses (Kubota calls them pipes) had burst in my first test I decided to replace them all. There are 4 in total and they cost together about 50 quid (Euro, Dollar, Pounds...) which I find very reasonable. I bought two sets. Might be difficult...
