Thanks for the help, getting the snap ring out was a PITA but straight forward from there. I attached a few photos of the threaded part assembly incase anyone in the future has the same issue and would like a reference.

Yes i took the 5 bolts out to clean up the threads and repaint, any idea on how to get to that o-ring? I tried unthreading the adjustment knob but it gets to a stop point both ways.
