Should I use break-in oil in my rebuild?

I replaced one of the pistons and rings in the 3 cylinder Kubota engine in my L3010. Got it all back together and just wondering if I should use break-in oil to seat the rings or can I just run the kubota synthetic oil? Thanks for the help!

Did I get a bad piston ring from Kubota?

Well got the ring off with a small right angled pick inserted in the gap and applied a couple light taps. Ring sprung open fairly easily. You were totally right that I put it in upside down. Can't believe I missed the manufacturers mark as I've replaced pistons in the past and not made this...

Did I get a bad piston ring from Kubota?

Thanks everyone for the info. Before I put the ring in I did examine it carefully for a manufacture mark close to the gap ends (as stated in the wsm) but could not find one. I also looked to see if the ring was tapered. Probably a screw up on my end then. The ring is in very tight with very...

Did I get a bad piston ring from Kubota?

Installing a new piston in my Kubota L3010 this afternoon and ran into a major issue. When compressing the rings with my compressor tool before inserting the piston it in the cylinder I could see the top ring was oversize as the compression tool would not compress the top ring completely. Top...

L3010 head removal reveals more than just a bad head gasket!

Thanks...got the propeller shaft off but the front axle does have to be unattached from the tractor and dropped down several inches in order to remove the two front bolts of the oil pan. Not too difficult to do but after you get the 2 bolts off the front axle assembly there's 2 studs in the...

L3010 head removal reveals more than just a bad head gasket!

Was hoping to get lucky and just have a blown head gasket but after taking the head off last night it looks like one of the pistons is damaged at the top where the gasket blew out. Would you pull the whole engine and do full rebuild or just replace the damaged piston with the engine in place...
