Help for two screw-ups B1550 fuel system

Fired up tractor a few days ago and ran it for an hour in the morning with no problems. I didn't declare victory until today when I gave it a good workout with the bush hog for a couple of hours. It runs like it did when it was new. I'll be paying more attention to the preventive maintenance...

Help for two screw-ups B1550 fuel system

It will definitely help in future situations and I will make sure that I have a spare old inner tube (usually there's one hanging around somewhere).

Help for two screw-ups B1550 fuel system

Finally was able to get back to working on the tractor. I disconnected the fuel line where it goes into the fuel filter and got just a dribble followed by just drops and then nothing. I had a funnel with a ball of cheese cloth in the neck (very large funnel) and was draining the fuel into a 5...

Help for two screw-ups B1550 fuel system

Found the biocide from Sta-bil at my Tractor Supply and will be getting a quart (expensive but with the small amount used for each 5 gal can it should last a while). I won't be able to work on my tractor this week since I've been called out of town, but will be disassembling next week. Thanks...

Help for two screw-ups B1550 fuel system

Some good suggestions. Thanks D2Cat for a good detailed description of the process to get the lines cleared and find where the obstruction is. I'll get to that and cleaning out the fuel tank, hopefully this week. I'll start looking for the algaecide to add to my stored fuel since I do keep a...

Help for two screw-ups B1550 fuel system

I made two mistakes and need help recovering. Any pointers will be appreciated. The story: B1550, 597 hours, bought new several years ago. I started having engine cutouts and bogging down and quickly narrowed down the problem to a clogged fuel filter. My first mistake, I had cleaned the...

Can PTO seal be replaced without removing cover?

Re: Can PTO seal ... Seal leak problem solved! Well, guys, I found the problem on getting my pto seal to not leak. Long story short. About 3 years ago, I had to replace the rear pto bearing (caused by my careless setting of lift with implement). It was three or four weeks before I got...

Can PTO seal be replaced without removing cover?

I will not be able to examine the pto more closely to see how much space is there and if it is even for a couple of days (doctor appointments take priority), but will on Thursday I hope.

Can PTO seal be replaced without removing cover?

There's no visible rust or rough feeling as I rub the shaft. I can see a space between the shaft and the rubber part of the seal so I don't think rust is the problem. Any other ideas? (I'll still check for any rust or roughness though).

Can PTO seal be replaced without removing cover?

Well guys, looks like the pto seal itself is not the problem. I've replaced the seal using care to not nick the seal edge, done it twice now with 2 new seals and it leaks just as bad as it did originally. I have used the plastic trick suggested when doing the replacements. What else should...

Can PTO seal be replaced without removing cover?

I just finished trying to fix the rear pto seal leak on my B1550HST by removing the pto housing cover and pulling out the pto shaft. I found that the actual seal (I had a new one) is actually pressed into place from the outside of the housing. I know I could slip a knife blade or something...

    Emergency oil for diesel

Re: Emergency oil for diesel (update) Thanks for the information. I put in the SAE gasoline oil, scraped the drive, and was able to get out this morning to get some diesel grade oil. I was surprised to find that one of the synthetics was not only graded for diesel but was cheaper than the...

    Emergency oil for diesel

 I'm in a situation that I hope I can get some advice on. Last Friday I decided to change the oil in my B1550 HST diesel engine. As I was planning to put the new oil in, I realized that I didn't have any of the D10W-30 oil that I usually use. I thought I could buy some today...

Re: Newly Registered member - PTO repair Well, On Thursday I took apart the PTO and found that the bearings were indeed toasted. They literally rattled. Luckily the case was not damaged. Also both bushings had burned grooves in them. I ordered all the parts and another seal. I was planning...

About Kubota B1550 HST I've enjoyed reading through other peoples problems and the good repair advice given here. My repair question is: How difficult is it to replace the rear PTO parts on the B1550? This is the situation. I made a big mistake yesterday of not setting the raise stop on...
