    BX 2200 Hydro cylinder/rod problem

Following up the 3 pt is functioning well. I keep a load on it because I'm sure if the upper links are lifted all the way by accident the rod will slip out of the piston. I am getting good use out of the unit and it gets into places my 35 HP won't go.

    BX 2200 Hydro cylinder/rod problem

It works. I will keep a load on the 3 pt to force the rod to the piston. Haven't raised it all the way yet. Found the knob for the release speed was closed. Might have been part of the problem? If it fails because of that broken case web I am going the run a bolt through the case to support...

    BX 2200 Hydro cylinder/rod problem

Instead of saying it had no marks I should have said I did not look close enough. I am reassembling with correct clocking. Hope this works.

    BX 2200 Hydro cylinder/rod problem

The first time it happened it broke out a cross panel part of the trans case you can see in pic #2. That time there was a lot of force involved. I wonder if that piece across the case is want keeps the rod from dropping past the socket of the piston. I can see a small wear mark on the rod where...

    BX 2200 Hydro cylinder/rod problem

This is the second time this happened. The rod comes clear out of the piston and jams against the clutch. The first time the three point was forced up when a tiller caught a bank going downhill. After a complete trans overhaul (because I went at it backwards) it has done it again without any...

    Great! That is simple enough.

    Need to prime hydro pump?

I finally completed the reassembly of my BX2200 after transmission overhaul. I have filled it with correct hydro oil. Does the trans/pump need to be primed? Will it self prime if I turn engine over without fuel? Or, am I overthinking this and should just fire it up?

    L3430D Locked Trans

I have been turning wrenches (like most of you) since I was a kid. I am 72 now and not so limber. I do not have a shop to work in. The local dealer wants $120 per hr with a 30 hour estimate for tear down just to estimate repairs. Figure another 30 to put it back together and $1000 for parts...

    L3430D Locked Trans

Sad day at the farm. Drained the oil and pulled the filter. Found carnage including a piece of cage bearing. Just bought the tractor last year. Got it with too many hours for too much money. It is not worth the cost of repair. Now to find something better. I really did like the way it could...

    L3430D Locked Trans

Found out wheels will turn if I scoot tractor with the bucket, but only when forward reverse selector on column is in neutral. With only 4 gear selector in neutral it stays stuck. That linkage has a lot of play. Couldn't it just be a linkage/shift fork issue trying to mesh two gears at once...

    L3430D Locked Trans

First symptom was a squealing noise when back draging the fel bucket to level dirt. That became intermittent, but with a few minutes the trans locked up. Engine will die when clutch is let out even in neutral. Starts and runs fine with clutch pushed in. FEL and three point functional. This is...

BX 2200 locked trans and cause (first post)

I bought a BX2200 with a locked trans. The problem discovered was a hydraulic piston pin thrown out of the piston cavity and cylinder and wedged into the clutch body. The previous owner said he was operating the rototiller when he turned and went down a short bank. The trans locked and the...
