    Bleeding fuel system

I haven’t made it back out but I’m fairly sure it is a plastic tank. Thanks for all the information both or you. I actually had never heard of this problem. I will definitely get some and also look at draining everything. Luckily I don’t need to road the tractor anywhere so if I have problems...

    Bleeding fuel system

Not that I know of. I did use a product called “mechanic in a bottle” a few times. Also used some StaBil if I knew I would not be using the tractor for a while.

    Bleeding fuel system

Update: Wanted to add that this was a result of a clogged fuel filter and possibly gunk in the tank and lines. Not sure which part worked but I loosened the injector line on the rear cylinder. Tried a few times until the battery went down. Had some diesel coming out the injector line. I loosened...

    Bleeding fuel system

Believe it or not we live about 4 miles from there and haven’t been over there in 4!or 5 years. Have had a couple Hruska’s kolaches though. Don’t know when I will get to work on the tractor yet but I will keep you updated.

    Bleeding fuel system

Little east of LaGrange, we’re probably 110-120 miles apart. I found the manual online but thought there must be some other way to do it. If I continue to have problems I will let you know. Thanks to all

    Bleeding fuel system

Wow. So basically make sure you have a good battery and get to cranking? Thanks for your help. Do you think I should try to loosen a fuel line or injector nut? I also saw a video of a guy spraying diesel in the air filter the same as you would do with starting fluid on a gas engine. Any thoughts?

    Bleeding fuel system

I have a 97 M4700S. The engine model is Model F2803-EA. Does anybody have information on how to bleed the fuel system?

    Overheating problem

So after everything it looks like it was the fan belt with possible assist from the radiator cap. One problem I had was I put in the thermostat and gasket. When added the coolant had a leak at the housing so I tried to tighten more and cracked off a piece of the lower housing. Had to JB Weld it...

    Overheating problem

Will fill y’all in on everything soon but do have a question. Does my M4700 have a drain plug for the coolant? I can’t find any. Always just take off and a bottom hose.

    Overheating problem

So I got in some of my parts and had a little time today. Bottom line is I put on a new fan belt and radiator cap and without a thermostat and straight well water (I know bad idea) after almost 30 minutes of shredding the temperature gauge was barely half. My idea moving forward is to do another...

    Overheating problem

Ran some more tests. Got a block tester and pressure tester through Orielley’s loaner program. The block tester said not for diesel engines. What would be the difference? I ran it anyway at idle and at PTO speed. The fluid remained blue. I let it run for about 20 minutes at PTO speed and checked...

    Overheating problem

So I have been monitoring the thread by three oaks since it seems we have similar problems. I noticed he ran the exhaust gas and pressure tests and they both turned out no leaks. So now I’m getting cold fee about diving into the head right away. Do y’all think it would be a good idea for me to...

    Overheating problem

I’m starting to prepare for the job. I can’t seem to find much information on this engine. According to tractordata.com the engine is a Kubota F2803 5 cylinder. Does anyone have the sequence and torque specs for the head bolts?

    Overheating problem

Well everyone, The wife and I decided to bite the bullet and I’m going to try the head gasket and see what the head looks like. Probably try to start next Saturday. I ask for your prayers for knowledge and ability. It’s been 37 years since I’ve been that far into a engine with a year of auto...

    Overheating problem

A stupid question but would the bent rods show any symptoms? When I start it and let it idle it starts easy and idles smooth.

    Overheating problem

So I definitely see bubbles. I cranked with cap off and thermostat out. After about 10 minutes of idle in mid 70s temperature the gauge was barely off Cold. Bumped it up to PTO speed and definitely have bubbles. I tried to attach video but couldn’t so I attached a screenshot. After about 67...

    Overheating problem

One clarification. It only loses coolant by boiling it out through the cap when overheating. I see no external leaks and the oil level is consistent and not milky. Don’t see any white smoke while running like it would be water in the cylinders. I’m getting worried. Found out the tractor would be...

    Overheating problem

Thanks to all for the responses and ideas. Some quick history: I completely removed the radiator, took a water hose using a shower setting on the nozzle and sprayed fins from both sides. The turned to jet and sprayed inside from top and through the bottom hose connect. Didn’t see any real...

    Overheating problem

No. The oil looks normal and is at normal level. Haven’t seen any white smoke either.. I was hoping it could be the water pump or maybe having the radiator rodded. I could handle those. Not sure I can tackle the head gasket or cracked block. I know it’s not the best option but do you think it...
