    Top it off

Warm days expand / expel atmosphere From your fuel tanks. Cool nights contract / introduce humid atmosphere into them, … where the humidity can condense. The theory is that a full tank has less exchange of that air. I used to be more diligent about that…but eventually got lazy after a...

    Learn how to diagnose electrical

THIS particular video FAILS to show the “fault” which was introduced. It makes the basic point…but Does Not convince because it Never demonstrates the failure….leaving the viewer (yourself) still bewildered as to WHAT IS THE PROBLEM. (minor point: He also mis-uses his own terminology when...

3 phase converter.... Deal or No?

For “investments” ….most things…of which I’m not familiar…. I stay away from. I see too many examples of folks who actually DO know about the item…. who lose their shirts anyway. In most cases, It takes a person thoroughly knowledgable about the product AND it’s marketplace to successfully...

    Is this zerk broken?

It may not be broken. The check-ball in that depicted on the right is merely a recessed check-ball (OR…it’s possible the check-spring is depressed or broken.) It’ll still work just fine.

    G1800, ran out of diesel...

Genuine generators are different .… For example, they have an electrically-excited “Field” and require an external regulator…..(although they Are able in most cases to self-excite with residual magnetism in the field-shoes….but also why they sometimes lose their polarity and require “flashing”...

    G1800, ran out of diesel...

A dynamo is like those little generators that ran off the sidewall of your bicycle-tires. It has an internal magnet to excite itself. It has such low output that very little (if any) regulation is required. An alternator is a genuine AC-Generator….(much higher output)….it has an internal...

    Oil pan question

Ever throw warm molasses on a cold plate? Warmed oil….suddenly splashed-about on cold metal is near worthless and perhaps damaging. (and the condensation created in the sump during the process is definitely bad.) Warm the entire engine, preferably with plenty of warm air circulating about it...

Split-fire Log Splitters split both ways.

Wow! $2730 😲 I paid approx $500 for my 20-ton HF splitter which also splits “both ways”. Been working perfectly for 4 years now. (they’re priced at $1K, but are often on sale for much less… Fair Warning: Replacement hyd parts are reportedly scarce or non-existant.)

What to do with ‘yard’ waste?

Do you have a local Volunteer Fire Dept..? Sometimes they need to exercise equipment and practice fire-fighting.… and that would resolve your burn-permit issues as well.

    Greasing Front Axle Support

The front of those axle-brackets have a lock-nut (130) and threaded-pivot/bolt (110) which is adjustable to take up “slack” from the wear-point. That adjustment-bolt should be removable… if you want to allow an “escape” path for excess grease. (I’m presuming that the disc (030) will allow...

Greasing front axle pivot pin problem

One grease that deserves recognition for this purpose is “Moly” grease, because it’s purpose is to lubricate sliding bushings and pins. (the reason it’s often recommended for the FEl pivot/pins.

    What would you do?

OPEN A ZIP-LINE ATTRACTION. Seriously, “filling” that hole is a leap-ahead of the problem. FIRST thing to do is determine WHERE all that soil is GOING. It may be that an underground cavern (it IS Missouri)…or some hydrology-activity is causing this. Mining or drilling/exploration activity...

    Yet another Rotella question

Yeah Yeah Yeah. WE ALL know that. But if YOU have a NEW TRACTOR….with a Warranty….WHY would you try to “outsmart” the OEM and give ANY excuse for them to deny? GM had a series of autos in the mid-80‘s in which the Owners Manual specified 10W30 and when clever owners substituted what THEY...

    Yet another Rotella question

Phantastic ….. a guy comes to the owners forum…..asks a simple question….and gets an answer guaranteed to violate the Owner’s Manual recommendation. (Hint: There is Only ONE oil-viscosity recommended for ALL / ANY temperature: See if you can discover it): Kubota LX2620 Owner’s Manual:

    Yet another Rotella question

Makes no difference if EGR is involved or not. And with the information supplied by AOW… there’s no reason to believe synthetic will do anything for him or the tractor. Conventional is good. Has worked for thousands for decades and your tractor will outlive all of us on conventional. Any...

Gearbox oil - am I smarter than Kubota engineers?

I would use what the mfr’r recommends. From a purely theoretical perspective….thicker (heavier viscosity) oils do not necessarily have lesser leaking tendencies. In fact, thicker oils resist “wiping” by the seals and at high operating speeds can be forced beyone seals and gaskets. It’s also...
