    BX23S Engine Losing Power

Good plan to check other things first. If you conclude your tank is plugged, I can say the most difficult part was cutting an accurate hole. Cutting the hole: I took an accurate measurement of the compression plug when it was relaxed, then scribed a hole pattern that was about 0.05" larger. I...

    BX23S Engine Losing Power

Well, I found the problem and I'm guessing this is probably a first for most of you. Knowing the tank was plugged, I cut an inspection/clean-out port just over the fuel sump. This involved carefully cutting a 1-1/2" hole with an exacto, which took a while. The following pic (after debris...

It's fuel. LED shop lights skews the color.

    BX23S Engine Losing Power

Haven't had much time to work on this since last posting, but I found the problem an hour ago. Definitely a plug in the tank as blowing air back into the tank via the fuel line freed it up and it cranked right over and didn't experience any stalls. This tells me the tank needs to be cleaned...

    BX23S Engine Losing Power

Of course, it is a diesel. Duh ... on my part. I thought maybe it was some pollution control nonsense. Did you happen to take a peek at the video in my last post re fuel flow? I'm looking for any feedback as I have no idea what's "normal" for fuel pump flow. I'm beginning to wonder if...

    BX23S Engine Losing Power

OK, I pulled the fuel line at the end, and here's the fuel flow with the key on: Video: (2) October 10, 2023 - YouTube Is that normal? Also, what role does this thing serve?

    BX23S Engine Losing Power

I replaced both fuel filters and it's still losing power, and now running rough. I primed it to the point where the engine seems to be running smooth, so I assume all the air's out of the fuel line. Idles at the expected 1400 rpm, and runs smooth at higher rpm when standing still. Often...

    BX23S Engine Losing Power

Thanks. Instructions make perfect sense. I was unaware there were two filters.

    BX23S Engine Losing Power

My 23S of 310 toatal hrs use has been running fine until today. While mowing, it seems to bog down of sorts as if something was wound around the blades. Disengaged the blade and the enging picked back up again. Cleaned pully wells on the mower deck and checked underneath; nothing binding...

Joystick broke off on my BX23S

I FTP downloaded the image from where I placed it, and it is in fact 640 wide. Not sure where the (older) large one is being cached, but the source my thread is pointing to is the smaller size.

Joystick broke off on my BX23S

Far far easier to do it myself than to get the tractor to them. Besides, I don't trust anyone yanking the 3rd function valve wires around. Also, I'm giving serious thought to milling it out of a single piece. I need to use my machine tools more anyway.

It's fixed. You're looking at the old image cached on your computer.

Joystick broke off on my BX23S

Sorry. Not having a particularly cerebral day today. I think I fixed it. Anyway, you should be able to see what I'm talking about.

Joystick broke off on my BX23S

Sorry for the delayed response. Been very busy. Anyway, attached is a pic of the break. You can see the bottom of the joystick hanging free, and the two broken weld joints in question. The joint with the green line has very little penetration into the square post of the yoke. The otherside...

Joystick broke off on my BX23S

Was just out plowing snow, and snapped off the joystick for the FEL. Limped back into the garage and upon inspection, there's only two tiny little weld joints on either side of the stick receiving nut where the it attaches to the 2D hydraulic pivot. Huh? Pretty flimsy. I was able to protect...

    BX23S 50 Hr Maintenance. What I learned

My BX was at 47 hrs, so I bought my SUDT2, 10W-30, and the engine and tranny filters. Wasn't difficult, but took a bit longer than I thought. Here's what I learned. Paper towels on a windy day make me want to break something. On a new machine, the engine oil should probably be changed at 30...

    Septic Tank Paranoia Is Over

I agree about the lids/access cap. Those are about 3 or 4 inches thick, and I straddle where I know it to be. My lift station (2nd tank) has a visible screw on plastic lid that's flush with the ground and is easy to avoid. Going to have the tank pump service put one on the primary tank next...

    Septic Tank Paranoia Is Over

I posted this question a while back about driving a BX23S over a septic tank with just the mower deck. Lots of recommendations, suggestions, cautions, but difficult to find a definitive answer. Well, back in mid to early June, I inadvertently drove over my tank with both the FEL and backhoe...

    Boosted my hydro pressure. BX23S

Yep. No end to the toys ... I mean tools ... one can get. I guess I don't dig enough stumps to justify it, and have figured out that you just have to start wide and work your way in. I did transplant a 7 ft scotch pine yesterday in less than an hour, however, and that's where I noticed no...
