Low oil pressure when hot - camshaft plug has not fallen out.

I fixed the problem of low oil pressure when hot: Replaced fuel pump and oil pressure relief valve (spring & ball). Don't know which fixed issue. Since I had gear case off, it was easy enough to replace the oil pump. First, my questions and below, the background info. I've read and we all...

Low oil pressure when hot - camshaft plug has not fallen out.

Hi Hokie I don't have the values with which they compared their measurements. All I know is that, when I picked up the motor, they said it was in really good shape and everything was 'within specification' and they did some 'minor honing on the cylinders'. I'll give them a call on Monday.

Low oil pressure when hot - camshaft plug has not fallen out.

OK, one problem so far: low oil pressure when oil is hot. V1902 I had thought the problem was the missing camshaft plug, so I took the gear case off and looked. There is a plug in the end of the camshaft. I looked really closely and the "plug" in the end of the camshaft is actually some...

air in return lines and creaking noise

Well, it's been more than a few weeks, but the engine is finally in. Thank ya'll very much for answering my questions during this engine rebuild. I knew nothing about engines when I started this last winter, except that diesel's have no spark plugs. The engine is in the boat, aligned with the...

air in return lines and creaking noise

Well, looks like I was wrong in my assessment of the cause of the resistance. I wish I were smarter. I feel so defeated. A weeks worth of anguish and a few gallons of sweat trying to figure out what I did wrong. Turns out it was much simpler: the damper plate is warped! I discovered this when...

air in return lines and creaking noise

Yes, it's in a sailboat, 1982 Pearson 367 (36' long, 17,000 lbs) Here is a link to pictures of the work I've done. https://picasaweb.google.com/111274927949602013478 It was marinized by Universal (now owned by Westerbeke) The only marinized parts are exhaust manifold, raw water pump, heat...

air in return lines and creaking noise

Ok Wolfman, you are spot-on again. I removed the housing and compared the distance that they travel and the new one bottoms out about thick 1/16" before the old one. In other words, the new one travels down the spline ~0.48" and the old one travels down ~0.53". That's a approximate...

air in return lines and creaking noise

Wolfman, Thank you for your input. This evening, I removed the bell housing and the noise went away. I narrowed it down to the new damper plate. I put the old damper plate on and there is no noise. The new damper plate seems to fit, but I noticed that, with the new damper plate, I cannot put...

air in return lines and creaking noise

Thanks for the opinion about the air, I won't worry about it. The noise is present with and without the belt. I'll call the machine shop who did the internal rebuild tomorrow and see if they will take a look at it. Thanks again for helping out. Really appreciate it.

air in return lines and creaking noise

I've got a V1902, just rebuilt. It seems to be working well, except for two issues. Issue #1: There is air in my return lines, but does not appear to affect engine; it runs. The fuel injector has a bleeder valve and when that valve is closed, air bubbles accumulate in the return hoses on...

    Speed Control Governor adjustment?

Thanks Wolfman, I appreciate your help with this and past question. I'll try your adjustment and see how it works out.

    Speed Control Governor adjustment?

I did something just plain stupid: i removed part without taking measurements. I replaced the gear case because the old one had severe pitting in the coolant passages. Before I realized that it might be important, I removed this pin from the old gear case and did not measure how far it...

    D950-??

What do the letters after the engine number mean? D950-LA D950-A-DT D950-5B D950-FM1 D950-FM2 D950-AM D950-BH-1 D950-AT Do these numbers have anything to do with engine parts? This is an engine off a boat. The engine is branded Universal. Yeah, I'm the one from a few days ago with the...

    Kubota Tractors with V1902

I want to tank everyone for your help. With the correct tractor model number, I was able to walk into Kubota dealer, get the parts I need and get on home to install them. Of course, they fit perfectly. Sooooo much better than the outrageous prices from the 'marine' vendors for the same...

    Kubota Tractors with V1902

Wolfman, Thanks for clarifying that it is an IDI. If the V1902 IDI was never used in any tractor, do you know which Kubota non-tractor equipment used this engine so I can tell the Kubota dealer which "tractor model" to look under? I found a thread on here that has a pdf listing tractor...

    Kubota Tractors with V1902

Thanks, Here are some pictures There is nothing wrong with the engine, except for 1) very slow air leak into fuel lines, 2) one wet injector (wet on outside), 3) rusted high pressure pipes between injector pump and injectors, and leaking bleeder valve on the injector pump. I've been able to...

    Kubota Tractors with V1902

I have 1982 v1902 kubota engine and am looking to find out what Kubota tractor models used this v1902 engine. The engine is actually in a boat I have and when I go to kubota dealer for parts, the first thing they ask for is the tractor model number and I have no idea what to tell them. The SN...
