How Big a Bush Hog for a 50 hp Kubota 5030su?

I volunteer for the Kentucky Humane Society Equine Rescue, and their farm has a Kubota 5030 on site. They want to start mowing their 30 acres of pasture rather than hire it out. So, need to shop for a used rotary mower. How large of a bush hog can that tractor take? (And I am assuming a bush hog...

Hydraulic coupling unused for decades - how to Replace?

Ah, this is a simple solution. Thanks.

Hydraulic coupling unused for decades - how to Replace?

The Humane Society has been using this old Kubota 5030 to spread manure and haul fenciing, etc. But has never used the hydraulics. Now they have an old Perfect W rotary mower with a swing arm that can cut under 4-board fences, but it has a hydraulic arm. So now I am trying to make the hydraulics...

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

The question then is something like, "What angle works ok for a seatbelt? How far behind? How far below?" And such.

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

Thanks for all the expertise and concern, folks. I will check those bolts and see what they are, and replace as necessary. Small price to pay to getting it right.

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

Well, MacGyver works at the dealership, then. They are the ones that installed that seat. But those two bolts are the ones I am considering as well.

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

Here is a picture of that tractor and its new seat. I did call the dealer, talked to service person, but he was no help at all. I can't imagine that Kubota in 1990 would have sold a tractor with a ROPS and no seatbelt. But I don't see any obvious candidates for bolt locations.

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

Hmm, let me ponder that. Interesting idea. We have a smaller, local airport here, but I don't know anyone personally. Also, I wonder if those would be long enough?

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

Thanks all. I will check that out. Looking at the tractor itself, I don't see an obvious place to bolt it. There are lots of existing bolts to choose from, but not conveniently placed holes waiting for a bolt. Does look like they may have never been a seat belt. That diagram looks like it...

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

The land (30 acres) is rolling, but not hilly. Not sure that matters though. If you have a ROPS, you need a seatbelt. Especially for a non-profit organization.

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

That article from Kubota said, " Kubota has provided ROPS as standard equipment on new tractors since 1985. . ." This tractor, being a 5030, was made from '86 - '96, so would have come with factory ROPS. I can look at its condition. I suspect that someone in the last couple decades took the...

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

No disagreement there. But at least I can head off a lawsuit for not having a seatbelt.

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

Thanks for the responses. Yes, it does have a ROPS. I can't tell if it was added or original. But being the model it is, built in the 90s, I would think both the ROPS and a seatbelt would have been standard. So now, I either remove the ROPS or add seatbelts. Is that the reality? And what...

Seat Belts on a M5030su - Should There Be Some?

I volunteer for the Kentucky Humane Society Equine Rescue, and they have a Kubota M5030 tractor (it came with the farm, I think). It has no seat belts. That series was made in the 90s, I believe. Should there not be some present? Or, is there a way to get some installed? Seems a safety issue to...

    B7100 Temp. Gauge

I do have an infrared- I will give that a shot. And just what is the "old vinegar trick"? A vinegar mix to flush out the radiator? What is the ratio?

    B7100 Temp. Gauge

All of that I have done. I did actually overheat once (whistle blowing), when I discovered that my radiator fin cleaning was not up to snuff. Since then, I pull screens off and blow it out each and every time before use. Even so, I am still running 230 degrees according to this Bosch. What...

Lost Air Cleaner Assembly Cap B7100

Somewhere out there is my cap/cover to the air cleaner. It fell off, I drove over the inner part of it, but no sign of the outer clover that clips to the front of the assembly. I have walked the field a couple of times looking for it. West KY Tractor parts wants $150 to replace the whole...

    B7100 Temp. Gauge

I thought I would finish up this by posting about the solution that seems to be working for me. I bought a Bosch mechanical gauge ($25), and a 34 mm radiator hose T with a 1/8 npt fitting. Had to tap out the T to accommodate a 3/8 npt fitting (pipe thread - minimum for a mechanical probe)...

    B7100 Temp. Gauge

I too plan to install a temp gauge on my B7100. I think I will use that adaptor that you splice into your top radiator hose as the way to tap into your water for a temp probe. The hose outlet on the B7100 is a 34 mm. Hope that works...

Sudden Oil Leak in back of Engine B7100

Just to report back: That leak was indeed from the back, left corner of the head, right where that O ring was. . .not. Someone had used some kind of silicone or something previously to stop a leak, and so I was the lucky inheritor of a poor repair job. However, with a new head gasket, O ring...
