    BX23 transmission filter screen location

May I kindly say one more time, this is NOT a BX23D. It is a BX23. The manual also says BX23. The BX23D was manufactured 2006-2008; this is a BX23 manufactured in 2004. Thanks for trying to help but your info is incorrect. TG

Gear oil vs UDT in front axle

"The most important thing is to have one or the other rather than NONE. Mine had virtually none in it when I checked it. A very common problem it seems as incompetent dealers do not properly fill them when they prep the tractor. " Sadly, this seems to be the situation for this tractor...all...

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

And, my lack of knowledge comes into play here. I would never have thought to look into the pump and suction system. I have followed the breakdown at Messick's and have discovered the diagram of the correct location of that oil screen. However, it does not explain the reason that the...

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

Yes, I know the BX23S is a newer production. But, it does seem odd to me, for example, that the location of the transmission oil screen filter is very different between the BX23 and BX23D. Will there be other things like that? I have never found any information for BX23MLB and very little for...

Gear oil vs UDT in front axle

Now that you mention it, I think I have heard that said about synthetic in older engines. I wouldn't know about in an axle case. But...something to think about. Thanks.

Gear oil vs UDT in front axle

Makes sense...if it ain't broke, don't fix it! :-) Thanks.

Gear oil vs UDT in front axle

If I may press the issue a bit...are you planning on synthetic gear oil or regular? I'm leaning toward regular but that could be from my ignorance of what actually goes on in that axle. It doesn't seem that there would be that much stress/strain. The object is to keep the parts lubricated...

Gear oil vs UDT in front axle

Good insight. And, yes, I was thinking about the cost after I said gear oil would be cheaper...not necessarily, as you mention. My goal is to reduce the little bit of seepage that I see. I don't want to deal with replacing seals right now. Thanks for taking time to share. Yes...decisions...

Gear oil vs UDT in front axle

Manual gives both as a choice. I was interested in knowing the experiences of those who have used the gear oil particularly. It would be a lot cheaper, for sure, and the extra viscosity may reduce some leaking. TG

Gear oil vs UDT in front axle

I just watched a video for front axle of BX series. Instead of using the UDT, gear oil 80-90 was going to be used. The rationale was that the gear oil had a little greater viscosity and for the axle, the greater viscosity may actually serve as a better lubricant. Are there any thoughts on...

Good to know. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks. TG

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

NIW, craziest thing I ever saw...I've been to that site but opened only the local parts...I guess that's why I only saw implements. Thanks for the help. I did look, by the way, under transmission but didn't come up with the page that showed the oil screen filter. Guess I'll keep looking. :-)...

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

Oh, I hate that. And, I don't get it either. Do they not sell Kubota parts in Canada? Too much. Actually, I've tried that site and can't really see any "illustrated Parts" other than for the implements/attachments...nothing for the tractor...at least that I could find. And, NIW, if you...

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

Borrowed a 26mm socket from a neighbor who has been so kind to help. Got the screen out...lots of metal fragments from where someone had stripped the transmission drain plug, causing a continual drip of fluid. That's my next issue to fix. Hopefully, there will be an end to fixing others'...

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

I will have a look referencing that diagram, but this parts issue doesn't make sense. The nameplate on this tractor says BX23MLB which means mower, loader, backhoe. I get that. BUT, on Messick's site, there is no resource (that I have found) for parts for a BX23...only BX23D. When I went...

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

OK, RCW. Maybe the bolt and hold-down tab are missing but the screen is still in there? Is that what you're saying? Again, I"ll look tomorrow and get pictures. Thanks for helping. I'll get there. Another issue is that there is a MMMower on the tractor, too, so it's a little tight. :-)

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

I will look again tomorrow, RCW, but so far I have found no 12mm bolts in that area. Is it possible that the transmission oil screen is missing? There is an opening with no bolt. I did not pursue any further than to stick my finger partially into the hole when I first started looking for the...

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

Yes, fluid is drained and a new filter in place. Didn't want to put new fluid in without doing this step. 85Hokie, I'll look for something that looks like that in the morning...dark now. Thanks to both 85Hokie and Greensillejay. Hoping for success. TG

    BX23 transmission filter screen location

Seems like this is an issue once in a while. I tried to search for info but found nothing. I have just gotten a used 2004 BX23 and I'm changing out all the fluids, filters, etc. The transmission filter screen is supposed to be just to the side of the left wheel, near the bottom of the...

    BX23-S wiring digram

Plus...another confusing thing. The nameplate on this tractor says Kubota BX23MLB. Messick's says this is a BX23D. The tractor is supposed to be a 2004, but and, as you say, the BX23D was 2006-2010. Messick's insists. So, I'm at a loss. I rarely find any info that is for the BX23.
