It's not the cord, this is a common problem with these heaters. I only used these heaters for one hour to one and half hours. at a time. Thus the reason for installing an ammeter, I was suspicious after the first one failed so quickly.

There is a problem with these as they go open after a very short time. Maybe the water drops below the heater a little and they burn out. You might want to check yours if it's older than two years. Time for an oil immersion heater.
