    B7100 HST Hydraulic Fluid Loss

What do you mean by "during operation of the hydraulic system"? Do you mean it only leaks when you actuate the 3 point hitch lift control (or other hydraulic attachment)? Or when you try to drive forward/backward?

What was that saying?….”measure 398 times, cut once…..dumbass”

Yup. As you are finding out, the cost of a lathe or mill is only a part of the cost. Tooling and metrology can double the investment. But having the ability to machine metal means you can make your own. A production shop might buy the tooling because they can make more money with their time. A...

What was that saying?….”measure 398 times, cut once…..dumbass”

The S190 shown is 20 pitch threads -- nice and strong. The SF190 is 40 pitch threads -- matches the threading of your micrometer. The S191 has a smaller base diameter and can squeeze into a smaller space. Step away from the bed frame, put the UPS driver on alert, mortgage the house and buy 2...

PTO drive for a Miller Bobcat welder?

If the tractor has a governor that can be set that way, sure. That's how the genset works. My tractor doesn't have such a governor but others might.

PTO drive for a Miller Bobcat welder?

Ultimately you were not wrong in that one cannot magically increase the entropy of the system by changing pulley (or gear) ratios. One can only convert, trading one characteristic for another. Where one characteristic goes up, another goes down. So let's look at the specifics of this case: An...

PTO drive for a Miller Bobcat welder?

HP = speed x torque. You can't change one without affecting at least one other. Six times more speed means six times less torque.

Rear tire fill - your thoughts appreciated

I don't question the effect of liquid in the tires of lowering the centre of gravity, and therefore improving side-to-side stability. I am however drawing a distinction between side-to-side stability vs fore-and-aft stability, within the context of the OP removing his backhoe.

    Question for the colective

I've thought about doing that -- getting the extra chains out of the way would sometimes be nice and a pulley at the top would also maximize use of available height -- but think I would want the winch control available outside the cab more than inside. Maybe something with a wired or wireless...

Rear tire fill - your thoughts appreciated

I did the WW fill. -45° C freeze point. No problems in winter. No signs of corrosion a few years later when I changed tires. I think most of the pros and cons of liquid weight (I hesitate to call it "ballast" -- to me "ballast" implies "counterweight") have been touched upon already, but I...

Fuel injection pump query re: BX2200 & B7800

Rules of troubleshooting: 1. Check the simplest possible cause first: it's cheap, fast and usually the problem. 2. What did you do just before the problem occurred? Again, often the cause...

Rear axle broke right inside cover

Ah, true. Although if one is using the backhoe correctly, the load is on the stabilizers not the axle. Back to "owner abuse vs design flaw".

Rear axle broke right inside cover

Ok, I'm confused: how does the backhoe hydraulics affect the hub torsion?

Rear axle broke right inside cover

The flywheel is a good point, but I don't know about the spinning wheels. Flat out, my tractor does 9mph in high range -- downhill with a tail wind. <lol> That's, what, 100 rpm? Probably 40 rpm in low range. In any event, the spinning mass of the wheel and tire won't increase the load on the...

    Phone SPAM messages question

Did you register your number with a Do Not Call list or service? It's well known to be a source of known active phone numbers. Lots of other ways to harvest numbers, especially for a government entity. Is it on you driver's license application? Tax records? Vehicle registration? Etc. It's also...

Rear axle broke right inside cover

I would start by assuming 100% available engine stall torque was being applied to the transmission then multiply by the total gear ratio. That's going to be the limiting factor. And no, I don't think you are expecting too much. I also don't think the photos support the contention a twisting...

    Phone SPAM messages question

Not sure about the laws down there, but up here political parties are exempted from the Do Not Call requirements. So are registered charities, polling companies, newspapers and any company one has had a business relationship in the last 18 months. Maybe there's a similar exemption down there?

Rear axle broke right inside cover

Back in the mid-70's the family business was designing and installing fire protection systems. Grids of pipe, sometimes involving hundreds of nodes, required complex iterative and recursive calculations with a slide rule, but an experienced engineer could save a lot of time and effort by...

    Front loader for a B7200

Yeah that looks pretty much like what's under my rubber boot. The top of the spools are drilled to accept the mechanism. Yours may be different, necessitating some sort of adapter to attach the mechanism to the spools -- that's what I meant by "ungainly".
