    Alternator output, light bulb limits

How many amps does an alternator generate on an L275 or L235? I have devised a solution for installing H3 bulbs as headlight replacements, and according to a wattage calculator a pair of them should draw just over 9 amps total. Will this be too much drain on the system?

    She's alive!!!

Well, there's not much difference cosmetically between the "before" and "after" other than the current lack of a 3" hole in the side of the engine, to be honest. It's just a huge relief to have it operating normally.

    She's alive!!!

It's been a LONG road that has required a lot of patience, much sweat, frequent frustration and a chunk of cash but my L275 is FINALLY up and running! Some of you might possibly remember that I bought this tractor back in 2009 for $500 because it had a hole in the engine block...

    L275, D1302-A engine timing problem

The problem with that theory is that we have no neighbors that close, and I don't drink. Any other ideas? Maybe simple ineptness?

    L275, D1302-A engine timing problem

So, I pulled the front gear case cover and the engine is way out of time. The cam was 1 tooth off and the injector pump was 165-170 degrees off. I have no idea what happened. Waiting for the new gasket and crank seal to arrive on Tuesday so I can put it all back together. Still wondering how...

    Governor springs, help!

Yes, that sounds correct. In my case the "eyelet" on the governor arm is actually a slot. Is that how yours is?

    Governor springs, help!

Yes, that looks very similar to mine, except mine has 3 springs. One is connected like the one on the right in your picture, then there are two more in the same location as the one on the left (one is smaller than the other) and the smaller one fits INSIDE the larger one for some odd reason...

    Governor springs, help!

While attempting to time my L275 and reassemble the gear case, the 2 springs on the governor fork lever came off. These are the two springs in which one is inserted inside the other one. Do they both attach to the exact same slot on the fork lever? If I remember correctly they both attach to...

    L275, D1302-A engine timing problem

Yep, 25* BTDC is what my books say, too. I just have no idea how it could be out of time so far unless the pump gear is way off. Sure wish there was a way to check those marks on the gears without pulling the front of the engine apart.

    L275, D1302-A engine timing problem

I would be willing to put money on the fact we had all the dots lined up on the gears, but that was last summer (it's been sitting since then). Is it possible for the dots to be lined up but somehow still be out of phase?

    L275, D1302-A engine timing problem

I need to make a correction. A friend told me to determine TDC by watching the valves, i.e. the exhaust should be just starting to close while the intake is starting to open, rather than then turning the crank another 360 degrees to be at TDC on compression stroke. So my previous comments are...

    L275, D1302-A engine timing problem

Long story, bought this L275 some time ago with a hole in the block. It ran fine on 2 cylinders and we drove it up on the trailer, then drove it into the shed after getting it home. A year ago I finally found a donor tractor with a good block, and with a buddy helping me we split the tractors...

    Wrong tach cable?

I recently purchased (mail order) a tach cable for my L275 which had a bad one. When it arrived I noticed that the end of the cable that connects to the sending unit has male threads, as does the sending unit itself. Did the wrong part get put in the package, or is there some sort of a...

    Fuel Injectors

Foxden, how much did they quote you for injectors? Maybe they're simply more pricy than the ones for my L275.

    LED headlight replacements? L-series

Yes, I have round lights that are approximately 4.5" diameter. I've not seen the tractor to which you're referring, but I'm not at all interesting in bolting lights on the exterior of my hood if that's what he did. I would also consider halogens rather than LED's if that would open up more...

    Fuel Injectors

I recently bought brand new ones for my L275 from my local dealer for $63 each, no core charge. That didn't seem too bad, considering they're OEM parts.

    LED headlight replacements? L-series

I've been thinking of replacing the stock headlights on my L275 with some aftermarket LED's and was wondering if anyone has found any that would be a drop-in replacement. One of my headlight lenses is broken so it would be a good time to do the conversion. Any ideas for some good, bright...

    L2250 front tires

I've been told you can install tubes and run them that way, or maybe have them foam-filled? Can you tell me if your rims look like the one in the picture below? I have a pair of these tires on rims that I would sell (too much offset to fit my L275) but I don't know which model they fit for sure.

    Rewiring the L275

I'm planning on replacing all externally exposed pairs of connectors. Headlight harness, taillight harness, main connector (between the above two) and the one that connects to the voltage regulator. All of these wires are either 14 or 16 gauge (probably 14). I think everything else can stay...

    Rewiring the L275

Digikey is pretty good about having a MOQ of 1 (at least on the stuff I've bought from them in the past) and reasonable shipping fees, unlike a lot of other suppliers out there such as Allied and Mouser. The other problem you have to watch is whether they stock the parts or not. I've spent...
