    Where does your tractor sleep?

That is a nice looking Deb, same year as mine. The FAA site says it is serial # CD-154, mine, N35F is CD-72. My father once owned N421T which lived in Texas for a while, but is now in Colorado. I see it has a three blade prop, was it repowered? I bought the DeShannon STC and put an IO-520BB and...

    Where does your tractor sleep?

My first plane was a '63 172D. Bought it and took all but 2 hours of my dual instruction in it. Soloed with 5.4 hours and never looked back. It needed some TLC, and I had it painted, did a top overhaul on the O-300, replaced all the upholstery, painted the interior and did a complete panel...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Picked up a grader box at Rural King last weekend. Had to add a 4" long piece of heavy 3" X 2" channel on each side to get the quick hitch pins spread out to the proper location for the quick hitch. Also drilled a new hole to get the top bolt at the proper location above the lower pins. Used it...

    Too Many Lawyers

Not around here. The ones with loud pipes only have two throttle positions, idle and wide open, and wide open is mostly how they run them. A few summers ago some local Harley guy had a new one with the loudest pipes I ever heard on a bike. I didn't think a two cylinder engine could make that...

    Too Many Lawyers

That's one of my pet peeves, loud Harley's. It's a long story, but I have hearing loss in my left ear, directly caused by an a*****e with drag pipes on his Harley. Besides, in the summer out where I live, it's rare that you can't hear one bellowing somewhere off in the distance. A lot of people...

Harbor Freight tools and stuff you like.

Re: Harbor Freight tools and stuff you like or dislike... Take them to a battery shop, they can replace the cells for about half of what Dewalt gets for new ones. If I remember correctly, I had my 9.6 volt packs overhauled for around $35 each.

    Making of HUGE diesel engine

Here's a really big engine, a 12 cylinder inline for use in a container ship. I believe it turns 101 rpm and develops around 85,000 hp. Notice a guy standing on the catwalk half way up on the engine. The second picture is the crank and bed for a 10 cylinder version.

    BX Brush Guard

Went down to the shop and bloted the mount up to the front of the BX, slip the guard into place and installed the pins. The hood doodad just touches it when it's open. I think it looks pretty good. And no, it doesn't rattle or vibrate when the engine is idling. Really.

Hot rods, Rat Rods, Customs, Mud Runners, Etc.

Back in the early 70s I had a '69 Nova SS396, L78 375hp, M21 4 speed Muncie, and I loved that car. But after getting married and with a baby on the way, I had to get something a little more economical, so I sold it and bought a '69 Chevelle Malibu with a 350 and an automatic transmission. I have...

    BX Brush Guard

Thanks for the link, I might buy some to have on hand if I need to refinish the guard after some use, for some other mod I make.

    BX Brush Guard

It was a nice warm day here, up in the 60's, so I went down this afternoon and got the guard finished up. I decided to add another tube at the bottom, so I cut a piece of 1" pipe and fit the ends so it would lie in the area of the bends above the mount. Got that welded in, then cut a piece of...

    BX Brush Guard

Vibrate? That little 3 cylinder engine vibrates? I can't imagine it does. ;) Don't know, I haven't quite finished it up yet to find out. If it does, I'll add a pinch bolt to hold it tight.

    BX Brush Guard

Thanks for the comments. I had the local Amish fabrication shop do the bends. They had to make it in three pieces, the top and sides are one piece, the S shaped legs are separate pieces I welded to the top. along with the cross-bars.

    BX Brush Guard

I'm not really worried about errant logs, just occasional working around brush and pine trees. The frame is made of 1 1/4" inch water pipe, and the mount is 1/4" steel plate, so it should withstand any abuse I am likely to give it. Yes, I made it easy to remove, just remove the two clevis pins...

Too early to take snowblower off?

So far this winter, I don't think we have had a total of 24 inches where I live. Over close to Lake Michigan, they have gotten hammered a few times, lake effect can really dump a lot of snow on them in a short time. They have had lots more snow south of me too. Go figure. It has been cold here...

    BX Brush Guard

Got more done on the brush guard this weekend. Welded the screen in, cut down the plate with the Kubota emblem, fit it in the guard and welded in place. I also made a jig to hold the guard mount in a vertical position so I could drill holes for the clevis pins to hold it in place. As usual, if...

Too early to take snowblower off?

Here in northern Indiana we haven't had much snow this winter. I think I've only used the blower on my 430 John Deere about 3 hours, and that includes cleaning out the neighbor's driveway too. That's about the same amount of time it took me to take off the mower deck, change the oil, put on...
