    L1500 Hydraulic oil change.

In the process of showing my old L1500DT some love, I am changing the hydraulic oil. I couldn't find a WSM for the L1500 but I believe the L175 is very similar. It tells me that the oil should be SAE 80 Gear Lube, and capacity is 22.04 Litres. I got 20L of SAE80 from a local oil specialist...

    L1500DT Driveshaft issues

Hi! Yeah, tomorrow was 10 days later. And the part he made for me was too long, and didn't have any way of separating it to fit it. (The original has a bolted flange on one joint). I did another post about it here. With some pictures. Although I did get my butt kicked for laying new hydraulic...

Out with the old, in with the new

Yeah you're right. It's going back where it came from. So, now I'm pretty much back to square one, with very few options. I might just have to source parts and build one from scratch.

Out with the old, in with the new

There is only one driveshaft company in Scotland and they are useless.

Out with the old, in with the new

Well, I can't really recommend the company that made this shaft. Despite promising me 'same day' or next day at the latest, it took them 10 days to make that. Not exactly like-for-like.

That's a great idea. I like that. The roll pins would also make a suitable place for it to fail gracefully, if ever needed.

Out with the old, in with the new

I've been showing some love to my old L1500DT I got a new propshft for the front-wheel-drive made, the old one was too far gone. I found a local company that claimed they could do it, but it took 10 days and it;s not exactly a 1-for-1 match, but It should do the job. It's not splittable, so...

    L1500 Steering box freeplay

My old L1500 (similar to L175) has about 80 degrees of free play in the steering. I removed the steering wheel, dash, and fuel tank which was all pretty easy. I then removed the steering shaft, and steering box. I dismantled the box to find that both shaft bearings were totally shot. The...

    L1500DT Driveshaft issues

I had a look at doing this job myself last week. However my welding skills are a bit out of practice. A wee bit of googling and I found that Scotland's only propshaft repair company was just 10 miles from here! Their website promised all kinds of good stuff about 'same day' or 24 hour...

    L1500DT Driveshaft issues

I ordered these on Wednesday and they arrived today! Just 2 days end to end from Cyprus to the UK. They are perfect for repairing my drivehsaft. I only need the sleeves, but they come as a set and I'm sure the shafts will come in handy one day.

    L1500DT Driveshaft issues

On this forum I found people mentioning Stavros Savva, so I had a quick look on their site and found this: https://www.stavros-savva-co-ltd.com.cy/shop/kubota-spare-parts/steering/kubota-sleeve-shaft-4wd-l02-30-strength-18t/ I think that will be good for repairing the spline ends. :)

    L1500DT Driveshaft issues

Thanks again! Sadly we are very much lacking machine shops like this in Scotland. I counted it as 18 Splines, 25mm internal diameter.

    L1500DT Driveshaft issues

So my nice new shiny 1970's L1500DT has a few issues. Nothing too bad really. (Thank to everyone who helped out with my hydraulics - they are well on the way to being sorted.) The next thing I would like to tackle is my prop shaft for the front wheel drive. As you can see it has a number of...
