What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Thanks for the ideas Old Paint. I'll have to shop around to see if I can get used RR ties in my area. I agree about the block wall not looking as "natural". I also have the HF sharpener, love it - fast and cheap like me. LOL.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I'm clearing a 20' x 30' spot for parking the BX and the future home of a new tractor shed. Took 2 days just to clear the sod with all the rocks, even with the BX tooth bar. Real hard on the little BX1880 but it did all that I asked. I think a sod cutter would have gotten torn to pieces. On day...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I remember my first year keeping bees, all pretty newly paint hives. Even got 70 lbs. honey from 2 hives. You should see them now, some repaired, some structurally sound but all need repainting. Just remember to strap them tight if you ever have to move them with the tractor. Pair of forks come...

    SHAKEING the FEL

On one of A RITTER BIT WILL DO videos he used a spray-on Turtle Wax on his blower and chute. Looking through my junk pile (garage) I found an old can of paste car wax which was all dried and crumbly. Figured what the heck, instead of throwing it out I rubbed pieces of it all over the inside of...

    Wiring, a treat to rodents

Living in farm county we get field mice every year. A little peanut butter on a trap - SNAP - works every time. Even caught one in my kitchen stove. Saw him peeking out the top vent so I put a trap in the bottom warming drawer. Sitting there eating dinner I hear a snap and sure enough. 14 in a...

    Skid Shoes

Thanks DR, I never used electrical conduit that big before so was unsure, but it was free. Schedule 80 would be much more durable. UPDATE: It only got down to -18F with wind chills around -35F Friday night. Supposed to be mid 40's Sunday. Go figure. I'll definitely need to get a cab by next...

    Skid Shoes

It's 2" ID, 1/8" thick, grey color, I think it's exterior pipe, no lettering on it. It did start to break off on the ends and the bottom was getting a flat spot from the gravel. But it did the job and now that everything is frozen, I took it off. -40 below wind chills possible tomorrow and...

    Skid Shoes

Upstate NY hasn't quite frozen solid yet, so I used a Sawzall to cut a slit on a piece of heavy PVC pipe and pounded it on my plow blade. The bolts on the blades cutting edge hold it on just fine. Once the gravel driveway freezes I'll take it off. Depending on the size of the area you're...

    D-ring for the chassis front

Get a "Recovery Stap" from HF instead of chain for pulling cars and other items out of jams. About $27 for a 9000 lb. strap. They have stretch to absorb the shock. Much less stress on car parts and the tractor. Make sure the D-ring is sized to accept the hook (ask me how I know, Duh). I've used...

    BX 1880

I don't have a blower but while floating my bucket (with grass tamers) it will follow the ground but I lose steering (without chains). I usually keep it an inch or so raised on the first pass and float for a cleanup pass. There's a couple of good You Tube videos explaining float and steering.

    BX 1880

I have a BX1880 also and have the same issue with the bucket control. Decreasing RPM does help but is impractical if you have to do it over and over. I find using my fingertips instead of a full-fisted grip helps. I need to slow down - mentally and physically - and focus to gently lift or...

Thats awesome, sounds like a weeks' worth of work and more to do. Can never have too many "toys" when they're the right ones for the need.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I finally got to test my semi-homemade snowplow today. 13” of VERY WET heavy snow so far and still coming down. I had a 48” plow blade from a Craftsman 26 hp RLM I got 15 years ago, been sitting around just waiting for a project. I bought a receiver tube and welded it into the cannel on the...

    Magnetic mirrors

Did the same as D2Cat, probably stole the idea from him, LOL. Golf cart mirrors $11/pair, 4-pack magnets $16. These magnets aren't the strongest, but they work. Mirrors, Magnets Knocked one of the mirrors off clearing some brush, was fine until I ran it over. Oops! At least they're cheap...

I resized the pictures but they still came out a little too large, still new at this, I'll get it right yet.

    New BX 1880 Owner

Here’s the kit I put on the BX. Same small lights as Daferris used but with a light bar, complete wiring kit with switch. I saw it on OTT somewhere. New BX 1880 Owner

I believe they are turf tires - R3's - says Grassmaster on the side of them. As I said they worked great in the winter even when the springs made an ice rink of my parking area. Gotta love 4WD. Could use a little more traction in the summer for clearing bush and digging but adding more rear...

    New BX 1880 Owner

I wish I had your luck, I'm leaving tire ruts with just the mmm on. I'm at the base of a large hill and two springs semi-drain into my property. The mostly clay soil takes a long time to drain, one area I mow has 1" + standing water well into May/June. Plan on running a couple hundred feet of...

    New BX 1880 Owner

Hey BX1880Dude Have read OTT for about a year and your post prompted me to join and issue my first post – although a little late. BX1880 owners seem to be as scarce as hen's teeth. Sorry for the long post but wanted to give MHO on the BX1880 specifically and not some other model we should’a...
