Fixing hole in side of block

Hello Joe, it may be that those bolts cannot be used again. Are they tightened with torque only or torque plus a specified turning angle? If the latter it may be that they have to be replaced. In this case they are being stretched when tightened and you may be allowed to do that only a limited...

    RC48 grass cutting deck adjustment

Ok, so I definitely have to shorten the front link to get the front rollers off the ground. That leads to another question: how do you measure the height of the blades? They are covered all around and not easily accessible when the deck is on the ground. I can always measure the height as per...

    RC48 grass cutting deck adjustment

Ok, but did it lift the anti-scalp rollers? The deck is the wrong one on my mower, so the figures from the manual do not work.

    RC48 grass cutting deck adjustment

Modifying it is no problem. But can you confirm that the front link is lifting the deck at the front so that the anti-scalp rollers are not touching the ground when deck is lowered down? At the moment I think the link is slightly too long.

    Reviving a G1900

Yes, you are 100% right, it is a stout little tractor. Will definitely keep going. Problems I identified so far: - steering knuckles rear wheels excessive play - wheel bearings front excessive play - front axle pivot excessive play - front axle grease nipple broken off - steering ball joints...

    RC48 grass cutting deck adjustment

Hello, a newbie question regarding the cutting desk setup. It is an RC48-G20K which I believe is the wrong one for my tractor. I think it should be an RC48-G20K-S for four wheel steering. Somebody before had been very creative and cut off the front link and welded it together shorter. The rear...

    Reviving a G1900

Second test Replaced the bottom hose and filled everything with water initially. The anti freeze and corrosion protection has to wait until I get the other hoses. I want to flush the system a few times because I do not know what anti freeze (if any) had been used. Mixing the wrong ones can lead...

Fan belt replacement The fan belt was top on the long prioritised to-do list: Lugbolt here in the forum kindly pointed me in the right direction how to change it after I failed initially. First take the mower deck off. Then loosen the bolts on the dynamo, top and bottom. Just loosen them...

    Reviving a G1900

Combination box and coolant hoses The first thing was fixing the electrics. The starter motor would not turn. The solenoid is driven by the "combination box" which adds some safety features and also controls the preglow light and the engine shutoff solenoid. The switches going into the box are...

    Reviving a G1900

Hello, as some may have read already in another thread I rescued a G1900 lawn tractor that, I believe, would otherwise have ended up in a scrap yard. The last few years it had been neglected and is in very poor condition. But short wiring the starter I could get it running and it started first...

Fixing hole in side of block

Hello Joe, another thing I would like to say about the heads. Although you got them nicely cleaned up with a grinding wheel and wire brush you have to make sure that it is perfectly level and straight. I do not know the tolerances on this Kubota head but typically we are talking 1/10mm over the...

Fixing hole in side of block

Hello Joe, sometimes hard hits with a hammer are better than 30 tons force from a press. But you need a round mandril that makes contact all around the bushing. Same applies to the rod, otherwise you damage them. I got ball joints out of wishbones on a van this way that would not budge in the...

Hello, I am looking for a faulty Kubota combination box, part number 66101-55920. I need the housing, cable and connectors. The electronics inside can be toast, does not matter. It is used in the G1700, G1800, G1900 and T1600 lawn tractors and I think some others too. Kind regards, Hugo

    G1900 fan belt replacement

Hello, after trying my "new" G1900 (cut the grass at an unbelievable speed, delighted) it packed in with a burst water hose after just 10 minutes. Problems were expected and this is a different story anyway. I want to replace the paper thin fan belt. It is around the transmission drive shaft...

G1700 G1800 G1900 Battery cable and fusable link position

Hello Jim, Lugbolt, I agree with your view of pictures on web sites and to replace the link. The starter current is not going over the link, only everything else including pre glow current. I will measure the worst case current and select a suitable fuse. Various fuse parameters are...

G1700 G1800 G1900 Battery cable and fusable link position

Hello Jim, thank you for the explanation! The colour from the Messicks web site shows green. Would you know the rating of that? Otherwise I could measure the current and together with the wire cross section have an educated guess. I will put in a normal fuse; I am not very fond of open wires...

G1700 G1800 G1900 Battery cable and fusable link position

Rewiring everything may be an option at a later stage. All those connectors are a potential source of trouble. And the number of cables is not that high. But wires are very time consuming in my experience and the mechanics are more urgent right now.
