Thanks to all who responded- having mixed success with repeated backblading but the real key is probably just letting it dry out some. We'll get 5 or 6 days with no rain and then one or two with .25-1"; not gonna dry real thorough under those conditions!

I also would try center punch and lhd drill bit, but I like the idea of trying to spin it out with a punch. If none of that works the spindles are usu a replaceable subassembly.

Truth. The gearing in the 4wd system depends on correctly matching wheel sizes front and rear. If you could find a set that had properly matched rolling circumference it would work but it seems the tires are not designed this way.
