    I was looking at this splined shaft again and was hoping to see the 3 bolts inside the pulley so as i could take it off complete ,but there was nothing not even the rusted remains of bolts.I took a photo looking into the pulley.I can just about make out a tab of some sorts in one of the 3 holes...

    Thanks rob...as i feared so. I really dont think there was a split pin in this one.I have filed around where the splined shaft and collar join together and there is nothing, not a pin/ dowl /grub screw etc.Which makes sense to as it can't back off when assembled due to the bolts on the aluminium...

    Ive had another look.Still looks like the spline must be pulled off the shaft ..no pin or point of separation on the shaft.Maybe removing the pulley will show me more options.

    no i was hoping that too.its pushed on to the splined shaft and secured by the bolts on the pulley housing so it cant come loose.

    Very nice work. Can you tell me what paint products you used? I'm about to send a few parts for soda blasting and would love to get a finish half as good as yours. .Can you tell me did you soda blast your engine and gear box? Im a bit slow to soda blast the engine for fear of damaging seals...
