Confused by the manual of the L2501 HST

It's confusing to me because the L2502 doesn't have a clutch but fundamentally it's the same tractor and drivetrain right? I mean the four wheel drive lever is in the same place and works the same way. That doesn't need the clutch.

Confused by the manual of the L2501 HST

There is so much confusion. I'm not the only one. I was just reading on another forum, you don't need to use the clutch to engage 4wd or disengage it. I can see that pressing the clutch would stop the PTO and once whatever equipment you have comes to a stop. You can move the pto lever to off.

Confused by the manual of the L2501 HST

That is what I originally thought. The clutch pedal is only used to engage the PTO. As far as I know, you don't even need to use the clutch to disengage it.

Confused by the manual of the L2501 HST

See that's what I'm saying! The manual is kinda vague in some ways. I understand there are safety switches and such to try to prevent you from messing it up. In manual there's a checklist to test functions of the tractor and one of them is to turn the PTO on and stand up, even tells you to not...

Confused by the manual of the L2501 HST

That's the part where I'm confused as the manual states I need to use the clutch to change the range of the hydrostatic transmission or to out it in four-wheel. The manual is so vague haha.

Confused by the manual of the L2501 HST

The L2501 HST, despite being hydrostatic does have a clutch still to engage the PTO. The new L2502 removed the clutch and opt for an electronic PTO.

Confused by the manual of the L2501 HST

I been reading through the manual for my L2501 and there are a few things that I am slightly confused about and was hoping some folks here could clear it up for me. So the first one was operating the tractor it self. I know the L2501 has a clutch and you must push it in order to start the...

I just bought my first tractor!

Well I have a little grease gun I use for my mower. I can just use that for the non loader stuff. I'll just buy a bigger grease gun with the better stuff for the loader and just do it manually for now.

That's what I figured. I keep seeing people saying...oh no you MUST use moly grease on the loader pins otherwise you'll destroy it! But you can't use that stuff for the wheel bearings and such.

Hahaha, atleast it won't bleed green! Now just to figure out grease. Perhaps I'm overthinking it, some good multi-purpose will be fine I'm sure. But I wanna make sure it's good for cold weather.

I just bought my first tractor!

Yep. The dealer that sold the tractor told me it's a good machine. The previous owner didn't abuse it at all. Still has powertrain warranty until 2028 apparently. Even Kubota said so too when I contacted them. So that's atleast good. I'm gonna print off my manual just in case. Might as make...

I just bought my first tractor!

I assume the red dye doesn't affect the properties of the UDT-2. Yeah definitely be careful in the woods haha. I have seen people make/buy guards to bolt under the tractor to protect the hydrostatic filter and hydraulic filter and what not. I don't have much of a wooded area so I'm not...

I just bought my first tractor!

I'm gonna print out the manual from Kubota. I can atleast read it and go from there. I've serviced other stuff before, I'm not worried about that too much. I'll definitely be checking wheels torque specs. Although I found out yesterday it has what appears to be (according to what's left of the...

I just bought my first tractor!

Alright. I can get the red dye for it at least and go from there. That will be a good indication. Doesn't the 2502 use a dip stick? I heard others saying even with dip sticks. It's hard to see the hydraulic fluid.

I just bought my first tractor!

I'm a little nervous with it. Part of me wishes I bought new because I don't know much about them. It's a risk and I could be throwing money away for all I know. Their hours are this dealership suck. This Thursday/Friday I'll be able to go there and actually test it fully before giving them...

I just bought my first tractor!

That might be a good idea. Little costly but peace of mind too. Worth it. My other thought was bringing to a Kubota dealer and have it inspected and serviced to make sure it's good to go.

I just bought my first tractor!

Yeah the sight glass is pure white for what I could tell shinning my phones light in there. The hydraulic cylinders slide back and forth because there's like no grease but it's sitting in the rain for a while. The previous owner wanted a bigger tractor with a cab. I guess he preferred JD for...

That's a good idea. That red dye isn't harmful to it?

I just bought my first tractor!

Thanks! I been researching grease and now I'm like burned out. I never seen people argue so much over grease before, it's crazy! I know that grease is better than no grease. I have typically always used NGL #2 on everything. But I never had a loader before which folks seem to say grease with...
