I agree, in my twenties I nickle and dimed myself to death with the old jD. I bit the bullet on the new Kubota after a friend of mine passed away at a very young age. I just decide to do it instead of waiting as the future is not gauranteed. And I'm glad I did....

I've noticed when I have my tiller on without the FEL the front end seems light. I'm guessing the dealing is saying that to mount the proper suitcase weights from Kubota, it uses the same bolt holes that the front guard is using currently. Even though I thought mine was a little light...

^^this My soil in hard clay as well, I found that it needs to be turned over (bottom plow) then hit with the tiller. Or if the tiller is out of your price range it would be cheaper to get a 3pt disk and hit it with that after you have turned it over. Also, if I work my soil when its a little...

My tractor is smaller than yours but I have R 4's and they do not hurt my lawn. I take the FEL off and run it in 2 wheel drive while I'm mowing my lawn with my L3800.

I don't recall it being this cold in our area in my lifetime, I cleared my drive drove into town, cleared a couple more, then I was done. That wind is killer and we didn't really get much snow.
