M5640 with an 8 foot cutter?

That's funny but not really the situation, but solid advice. If I'm looking to spend 10K to just save a few hours a year, yeah I might be crazy. I've already ran to the limits of my loader on the JD2032R when building and maintaining my trails.. But, I do need to consider what you've stated

M5640 with an 8 foot cutter?

Did my wife call you?? Yeah I hear ya, the FEL I can use a little more power on trail work around my property also. The local guy would be 500 a pop and let's say 4 times a year, that 2K a year and if I can find something used and get a decent price on my current tractor, I am looking at...

M5640 with an 8 foot cutter?

Solid points and some I've thought of and dismissed to a small point. My local guy has done my fields and hillsides [I don't do the steep hills that he does] and he gets it done in 5 hours, he is using a case 115 + HP and a 15 foot bat wing. If he does the same area I do he can get it done in...

M5640 with an 8 foot cutter?

Weird IMO, I got neighbors use 92 HP with bat wings and they do just fine. Keep in mind I'm not clearing fields, I'm maintaining fields.

M5640 with an 8 foot cutter?

Yes, I understood the question. I can't determine what speeds are possible as I don't know what the Kubota is capable of. But that's a theoretical question and I'm hoping to hear real world experience with the 5640. I now know it can pull a 8 footer which was the goal of my question. Seems...

M5640 with an 8 foot cutter?

My reason to go bigger is that 7 hours and 48 minutes seat time killed me...

M5640 with an 8 foot cutter?

Speed? Not sure in the spec for speed on the M5640, but on the JD I have now top speed in low is 4mph. Height of material to be cut is 1.5 to 2.5 feet and it's just field grass, no heavy brush as it's already cut down. Just trying to maintain the fields

M5640 with an 8 foot cutter?

Looking at a used M5640 to use with a 8 foot rotary cutter. Is that enough tractor for that? I've got some pretty good hills. Currently using a JD 2032R with a 5 footer, took 7 hours and 48 minutes... So want to cut down in time. Thanks
