    Global Warming

You do realize that the sentiment expressed in your last paragraph is exactly the same as that of Coughlin, Lindberg, Ford, Amb Joseph Kennedy, and Watson (of IBM) (who received an Iron Cross for selling Hollerith cards and sorting machines that enabled the Holocaust)? It is also the same...

    Global Warming

Hmmm. Seems most people grudgingly acknowledge global warming/climate change (which like it or not has been factually determined to be human caused; not just by IC but by the industrial revolution, population growth causing increased use of carbon resources, destruction of forests, etc). Some...

    Global Warming

Us over 70 have seen so much crap and I used to wonder why old folk were so damned grouchy. Now I get it.

    Global Warming

Yeah in SW NH we had a 40 inch snow in late March followed a few weeks later by 90 degrees. The last month has been wet and cold. Anthracnose killed many beech and the oaks are really having a hard time with the frost. No mast for the deer and turkeys this year. While the North Country has...

    Global Warming

Just read two articles. One in Scientific America and another in Nature. One documents the nine conditions for human survival and the current status. Not good. The other describes the impacts of CO2 on the mesosphere and how that atmospheric layer is causing the shifts in the lower level jet...

    Non ethanol gas

You will get 10% better mileage. So compare prices. The ethanol is nothing more than filler. In NH the price differential is too much to make it worth it. When I was in MD I preferred it. I do use it in my garden equip including saw.

    Today and Tomorrow's Work Force

I did not know there were professional snowmobile groomers. The young adults we are talking about do this for pay all summer and then in winter get jobs like unloading planes at McMurdo Bay. They are OUTSTANDING!

    Chainsaw guys

Serious Correction!!! I just got back from a trail conference. Apparently, battery saws are now APPROVED. The original tests were done with corded saws which would not stall out. Now I gotta figure out what to do with my 550XP.

    Today and Tomorrow's Work Force

I just got back from a trail worker conference in New England. If you want your faith renewed in who is coming up, look there. Twenty to thirty-year-olds DESIRING to work all summer moving 400 pound rocks, pounding big rocks into crush for hours on end, walking in 5 miles carrying rock bars...

    Equipment shed thoughts/ideas?

We are in the process of building a 24X32 pole barn akin to Ken's. Hardpack floor for a 2601 with brushhog, FEL, EA pallet forks, 15 ft trailer and landplane. Plus other stuff. Never heard of anyone complaining about too much room on their lathe or storage space. One reason for the size is...

    Chainsaw guys

OK. My wife and I are both USFS Certified Chainsaw Fallers. Electric chainsaws are NOT approved. The reason for this is that existing chaps will NOT stall them. Look at any of the warnings on the PPE pages of sites like Baileys or Foresty Supply. Of course, if you are an occasional user who...

    Pallet Forks

I have a B2601 and I purchased the EA forks with the armored tips. Took a couple months but that was the winter anyway. Within two weeks I have used them to remove a rock necklace around my field (not a wall, just single rocks that looked silly to me and done in the last 20 years) and to build...

My take on carryall, lites and brake lite

Thanks to all; especially for the opportunity to learn. I am going to combine the router/parts holder ideas by routing a hollow in one of the tailgate boards for screws. Yes, I really am a watchmaker, although now only during the winter months (Swiss plan). Pushing 70 and there is too much...

My take on carryall, lites and brake lite

This forum has been very helpful. After a year, and a long winter, I finally decided which things to add. Brake lite: Many adopters seem to use the brake pedal itself to operate the switch, which is not only exposed to the weather, but also the lite comes on with every brake push and is not...

    Drawbar fixtures

Thanks, I found that a 5/8 inch shackle has the one + inch throat needed for the drawbar. 3 ton WLL which I believe is more than rated pull of the 2601. Good for now but I will see if I can locate a 5/8 swivel snatch hook. I use slings a lot.

    Drawbar fixtures

I tried to hook a shackle to the drawbar of my 2601 yesterday and could not find one with the right combination of pin size and throat width (back country griphoist rigger). What attachments/fixtures are available? Pintle hook would be good. Prefer not to extend the length of the drawbar but...

    Pallet Fork advice bx 2380

I am going to get the EA 42 inch fork set. In looking at the loader spec sheet, moving the load out 50 CM reduces the lift capacity by a large percentage. Lift capacity is max at the loader pin. I can't begin to fathom the stresses on the bucket with clamp on pallet arms. Not to mention the...

Site with Kubota Manuals (really works)

Thanks Dan. Should have asked yesterday instead of spending 2 hours searching. Yes, they already have it and for those who come across this thread, Dan's link is very complete. Go there.

The 2601 WSM is complete. Maybe I had a good day yesterday???? Where can I upload it to the group?
