    B7100 front knuckle/final drive/portal broken

I already ordered the part, so I am fixing it. I could have just TIG'd that back up too and put new threads in it, but for what it cost for a used portal housing I decided not to bother. The part was not expensive. Being hack is fine when you either have no tools, time, or money to do it...

    B7100 front knuckle/final drive/portal broken

Yes, no oil, just grease. The "repair" to the broken casting was not oil tight, not even close. I believe they attempted to fill it with grease instead, but I'm not even sure how they did that. At least with a zerk on it I could pump quite a bit in. So yes, not good.

    B7100 front knuckle/final drive/portal broken

It currently is still working fine and I have no idea how long ago this happened. The previous owner knew nothing about the tractor other than some basic info, used it for snowblowing and that was it. He may have changed the oil in the engine a few times, but otherwise didn't seem to have...

    B7100 front knuckle/final drive/portal broken

I'm not sure what this is specifically referred to on a tractor. I'd call it a portal if it was on a truck. Anyways, it's broken, see pictures. I discovered it when I pulled the drain plug and realized it was filled with grease, and then started to ask the question of why that was. Cleaning...

    B7100 - baseline maintenance

Nice looking machine. I have a B7100 as well, built in '78, but mine is not even close to being that nice.

    B7100 FEL question

I pulled that fitting, and yup, there's a screen in there that's covered in crud. The bottom of the reservoir was also covered in crud and metal flakes (probably from pipe threads). I sucked most of the oil out from below the supply fitting with big syringe and piece of hose. The oil in the...

    B7100 FEL question

Okay, thanks, it appears to be that FEL. The fitting stackup there is different, I'll pull it apart and see if there's a screen there and try to suck out the remaining oil.

    B7100 FEL question

I just bought a B7100D and it has a FEL on it. No idea who made it, or if it's factory, or what. Anyway, I'm changing all the oils to catch the servicing back up, and it appears there is no drain on the FEL's reservoir. It's the typical design where the upright on the controlling side is used...
