You are quite welcome. If the previous owner never used the PTO its quite possible the PTO clutch plate is stuck but I would check and verify adjustment before fighting that battle.

I have not adjusted the pedal yet but the pto lever works as advertised when. Tractor is off . Am I to understand the clutch depresses further for the pto than regular transmission shifting? I’m hoping this isn’t a stupid question!
YES, and it may require significant effort, you're disengaging 2 clutches.

You really should review the Operator Manual. Among other things, it gives the instruction to pin the clutch disengaged for extended down time. There's also a WorkShop Manual WSM at the link I gave earlier. They're free to download.

As long as it's working. Sometimes I don't know who I am. Oh BTW, your problem was it wasn't DISengaging.
