I have a BX23S. About 30 hrs on it. I noticed today when mowing that the preheat light on the dash was on. I went and parked it and turned off the engine. After the engine stopped the light went off about 5 seconds later. I decided to start the engine again and again the light stayed on. This time when I turned off the engine the light remained on for at least 5 minutes. I disconnected the battery cable to turn off the light. Anyone have any insight or thoughts on this? Thank you.

If your machine is still under warranty, don't mess with it.

You can download a very good Workshop manual from
http://kubotabooks.com/AutoIndex/in...s/&AutoIndex=3ea0ee6e2358d18f5703663d76d826e5

To do any sort of electrical troubleshooting you need two basic tools costing about $30 total.
Multi meter:

Test light:

There are two components that would be suspect. A glow plug relay and a glow plug controller.

kubota bx23s the preheat light in the easy sensor display comes on and stays on during normal operating RPM of the engine. I could turn the tractor off and the light would stay on, turn it back on and the light woiuld go out. And if i raised the rpm to 2K it would go out. But now it stays on no matter what.
AI says its the glow plug controller or relay.
Im not good with electrical,, Any advice on how to proceed and testing these two components?

Because of that, don't mess with it, you might make it worse or put your eye out.
Take it to a mechanic.

I wear eye protection...................
living on social security, cant afford to have them fix it. They want $500 just to pick it up and deliver let alone fix it.
I got the controller out, They want $308 just for a replacement part yet i found it on ebay for $38.

Any suggestions that would help me do it myself would be appreciated. I can learn, just need some guidance.

I feel your pain so let's start by finding out if you know your way around a vom. Without knowing how and what readings mean, troubleshooting simple electrical is a steep hill to climb. With vom in hand and ability to use it puts the world of electrical at your doorstep.

My suggestion is to try and find the work shop manual (WSM) and there is probably some troubleshooting instructions there.

I think you can get it here Kubota books dot com

What controller? The Key switch?
Did you test or swap the relay?

I ordered the 060 relay but not sure which one is for the glow plugs. The bracket has holes for 3, my bx23s only has 2 realys the one closest to the dash is missing.

Im going to order off of ebay the glow plug controller(timer). I plan to just swap out the relay and timer at the moment.

IM not a complete novice. I installed a off grid solar system with the help of my son whos a electrician but he lives 3 hours away. Off the grid 95% of the time with grid backup. i didnt know anything before i started, got books and read.

I have like 5 of damn things. My best 2 are MESTEI CM83E and KLEIN TOOLS MM1000. Not great with them but can learn what i need to know.

Unfortunately, the schematic at Kubotabooks is nearly illegible. If you take a thumb drive to your friendly dealer, he may sell, or even give, you a pdf download of the WSM. I see a relay, but it looks like it's controlled by the dash controller. But I can't read the text, wire colors, etc.

The "glow plug controller (timer)" that you spent over $300.00 for is for the fuel shut-off solenoid. It has nothing to do with the glow plug circuit—the key switch and a relay control the glow plugs.

The glow plugs relay has a RED wire, a BLACK wire, a BLACK/w RED stripe wire, and a BLACK/w GREEN stripe wire to it.

(y) The tractor is nowhere near complicated as an off grid solar back-up so with that experience, 5 meters and schematic Whitetiger furnished in post#14 you'll have it straightened out in no time. Don't buy any more parts until old ones have been tested and found inoperable...

Oh, and pardon our manners for not saying so earlier 😬 , welcome to OTT. We hope you stick around after getting this fixed. Most of us are here to hoorah one another over mistakes and bad judgement as much as help one another fix them.
