Finally got around to messing with the little tractor. The ball coupling is defiantly stripped out! I got both roll pins out but does not appear there's enough splines to slide the coupling back to remove the shaft? So do i have to split the machine just to remove the shaft ? Where do i purchase the couplings since they are NLA? Thanks

Salvage @007kubotaguy

Those couplers were used on 100 different models spanning decades. I would think theres plenty floating around.

You will need to split, sorry to say. I got some tall grass twisted around the shaft of my 2620 which tore up the shaft seals. Does the 2620 have a BH? Mine has the BH and the BH mounting brackets according to the WSM they need to come off, however I was able to split the tractor without taking them off. Had I known that the couplers were a weak spot, as mentioned, I would have replaced both them both even though they were ok.

Thanks for the info. Still trying to find the couplers!

@Mountainman might be a source for them.
Also send these guys a message and ask if they know if they will be getting more in, they are vendor members here and they supply great parts.

You can order parts for later-model tractors, such as the LX3310. Just don't try to mix parts from the early and latest designs of couplers.

Thanks! I guess i can use the same shaft and balls?
They both use the same shaft & balls, but the latest version has added O-rings in the ball sockets.
The gaskets are the same, but the gasket supports are different.
I would not put used balls in the new couplers, plus I would use new gaskets and supports anyway.
There are no O-rings in the early couplers, so they would be a moot point.

The amount of work it takes to get the couplers off- why not use all new parts anyway?
